Reviews for Fribourg & Treyer French Carotte

Sheffield Exchange describe this as "sandalwood oil & French Carotte Essence". It is distinctly sandalwood, and one need look to no other snuff for a sandalwood treat. That unique scent is well balanced by the "French Carotte Essance" which, no doubt, is a trade secret. Since Wilson's of Sharrow own this recipe now, they are privy to that information and have made a good, though lesser snuff of the same name for their own brand. In this one, the sandalwood is more balanced and offset and the snuff as a whole is less sticky and less sweet. It has a bit more spice and is a bit more well ground. Carottes of course are an old form of rolling tobacco for saucing and eventual grinding. They resemble carrots in appearance, but carrots have nothing to do with the scent. This is a strong scented snuff, though, and quite sweet and pungent, so for most snufftakers its either an occasional treat, or not liked at all.

The easiest to take F&T snuff for me. The medium grind and moisture are very user friendly. I don´t receive any burn here, as with nearly all other F&T´s. Wonderful natural sandalwood scent, very slowly fading and lasting for hours. It´s a classy and satisfying snuff, one of the best snuffs to start a weekend with. Very relaxing stuff.

A lovely snuff, in my opinion. There are other flavours moving around in the background, but sandalwood predominates. Very easy to take with very little initial burn and not as florid as some other F&T blends, this is a great beginner's snuff.

After spending time with Seville I sense that neroli oil might be in this one too. It's a little distracting for me but I'm happy with this snuff none the less. A wonderful perfume floating on a warm sandalwood base. Most definitely not Seville, and having slightly different tobacco's in it, French Carotte is very interesting indeed. As long as they keep using the F&T recipes, I'll keep using the F&T snuffs.

Nice Sandalwood snuff best taken very fresh and stored well to keep it that way; Tranters snuffs don't snuff well when they loose moisture and get very sneezy. Light and spicy, this is a good scented snuff.

Lovely sandalwood dominant scented snuff. I love perfumed snuffs and this gem by F&T is a testament to their craft and quality.

Yellowish brown, medium grind and quite dry, and perhaps slightly sneezy for a beginner. From the first pinch you know this is a quality snuff, dominated by sandalwood and complimented by the usual exotic perfumes found in F&T snuffs. The aroma lingers for a very long time and always invites you back for more. No chance of overdoing the nicotine with this one, and not cloying or clogging, so can be taken all day. A gentleman's snuff.

For Carotte this is very finely textured and of a rich redish-brown colour. The sandalwood perfume is powerful. Like Seville (and other highly perfumed varieties) this - for me - is only for the occasional piquant pinch.

Behold the king of sandalwood snuffs! Even if sandalwood isn't the only flavouring in French Carotte, it is the dominant scent and it is better done in this snuff than in most of not all other sandalwood flavoured snuffs. There is also an underlying perfume which is very agreeable. Mid-brown, medium-fine and medium moist, this is another F&T snuff which is easy on the nose.

This was my second non-medicated (menthol) snuff. I love it. My friends, also their first non-M, love it too. The flavor lingers and it comes later to remind you of it. When stepping outside for fresh air it comes alive. To me, its flavor is woodsy, elegant and retro. It makes travel in time. I highly recommend it.

Love this snuff. It definatly is a sandalwood snuff but a very quality sandalwood snuff. Easy to take though fine cut for a an f-n-t snuff. I've found it also mixs expertly half and half with rose of sharrow. There is another scent in there too but can't put my finger on it. Opps wasn't signed in when I wrote this one.
