This stuff is pretty good .. it seems like i wanna eat it more than i wanna put it in my nose though.. Its got somewhat of a light toasty buttery taste ... its something that I can use everyday i guess but I feel like i have to use alot of it to taste or feel anything from it. It seems rather light in taste in my opinion but thats probably because all ive been snuffing is W.E Garrett which has a very strong bbq taste especially when your comparing the two.. Nicotine seems medium to me as I have to do a bigger dose of it to compare with the nicotine buzz I get from just a little W.E Garrett.. overall its good but being an ex smoker I like something that tastes a little stronger and is a bit more rough if that makes sense..

There is not much I can say that has not already been said about this well reviewed snuff. It is as others point out very nutty and has tones of leather and wood as do toasts in general. To compare it to Wilsons' #22, I would say this one is much less smokey and has a bit more sweetness to it, but less butter and nut tones. One reviewer compared it to the flavor of Brazil nuts, I would compare it more to cashews. All in all, quite well crafted, but I prefer the Wilsons a bit more.

What appears to be a bit boring and nondescript at first, often turns out to be ones favorite thing, and so it is with F&T HDT. A very slightly coarser grind than Wilson's #22 makes it a little easier to take, and it has a cleaner, lighter, more effervescent character than some more "meaty" HDT's. A fantastic, heady natural burn leads to a modest, nose clearing effect, with a savory, toasty, woody (but not smokey) finish. Fairly high nicotine. Refined and powerful at the same time; reminds me of Roederer's Cristal Vintage Champagne, as opposed to the heavier, yeastier character of Veuve Cliquot Grande Dame, which is rather more similar to Wilson's Great HDT #22. I wouldn't want to be without either, but if forced to choose, I would take the F&T by a nose because of its pure, unfatiguing, unstressed perfection.

Very well made Toast. Very fluffy and easy too take for a toast-lover like me. The taste is creamy, salty and wooden with a touch of this fireplace smell. Light in colour, very fine grinded and very very delicious!

If you were to collect the residue from a tornado's encounter with a gentleman lounge- this would be the byproduct. Leather, wood, and a certain nuttiness. I'm not sure how the nut scent figures into my tornado analogy, but keep with me.
This is a great all-day snuff by my standards. I have found that I need a good "clearing out" by the afternoon. Hit the reset with some Hedges L260 and game on.

At first, I couldn't really understand how people thought this snuff was great, as I found it rather difficult to take, and fairly plain. It's both very dry and finely ground. However, it's grown on me quite a bit, as it makes a very nice all day snuff. The scent is nutty and a bit of butter, it seems to me, but just a tiny bit. I notice something a little different with each pinch, and I've decided it's one to always have in stock.

This HDT seems to be longer toasted than some of its equivalents from other manufacturers. It´s more pronounced and has, besides the lovely buttery flavour a certain saltieness that plays a big part in its appeal. So far no HDT disappointed me. I´d nearly call this one the potatoe chip bag of snuffs, you just can´t see a way to stop pinching, once started. Plain pure delight. First you have to learn how to propperly take such a finely ground snuff and then you have to learn how to let go. The first is much easier.

Oh this snuff is evil! (but in a good way!)
When I first tried this I was a vain newbie who wanted to impress his fellow snuff users with his iron nose! Silly boy!
Don't go near this fine offering until you have been snuffing a while, it is so fine & strong it will have you in the midst of an uncontrollable sneezing fit if you aren't careful with it. A seasoned snuffer has nothing to fear and will reap the very significant benefits but beginners beware!!
The snuff itself has a high nicotine content, is flavourless and very enjoyable!!

Fine, in every sense of the word. F&T snuffs are some of the highest quality snuffs available, and this is pretty much the flagship: with a snuff this natural, there's literally nothing to hide behind, no scent to cover the mistakes of the blender.
Others have commented on the nuttiness but I think that for accuracy, it should be described as like brazil nuts, or another nut with that same creamy, buttery consistency, and smooth flavour. There's even a hint of butter-bean in there. This isn't a dark and deep nut like a walnut, but something light and clear. The leather other reviewers have referred to is for me like the leather of a glove, or perhaps an old belt - soft and supple and well used.
There's a mustiness in this snuff, a pleasing sense of age and refinement. It's also so dry and fine that I think it can never go off, and it will mature with age, like a fine wine.

This is the champagne of high dry toast snuffs and one of my all-time favorites. I love the tobacco flavor and would highly recommend this snuff to a smoker trying to kick the cigs. One of the best things about F&T snuffs is the can with the rubber seal on top that keeps the snuff fresh for a very long time. A staple in my humidor, I give it 5 stars.

Lord, this is good! The gentlest of sniffs is enough to take this delicious stuff home and then it's the nasal equivalent of a straight single malt: a delicious nutty aroma, a satisfying, warming glow and generous dollop of the N-stuff. Heaven in a tin.

This is an absolutely wonderful snuff, and possibly my favorite of the toast style. The flavor is quite subtle, yet complex. It is mostly a nutty flavor with some leather notes, and of course a strong toasted tobacco base. While it is very similar to Wilson's toast #22, the flavor is certainly better. Although I have yet to try this, I would imagine it would be even better (if that is possible) when paired with a nice English Nut Brown Ale.

An unbelievably tasty snuff with a lovely nutty flavour that I can't get enough of. Fine and dry, this does take some getting used to and shouldn't be attempted by newbie snuffers until you have your technique right, or you'll be spluttering and coughing and will miss the subtle flavour.
Absolutely heavenly when mixed 50/50 with Toque Whisky & Honey.
A winner!

Definitely not a snuff for beginners. As soon as you open the lid you notice two things: firstly a plume of fine powder, and secondly the tin is two thirds full! I thought the tin was a bit light, so I weighed the contents, and to my surprise I had 20g rather than the 28g advertised. The snuff is a supreme example of the style: toasted, biscuity and oaky, and with experience quite easy on the nose. I would also recommend Wilsons of Sharrow Irish High Dry Toast No. 22 as it works out cheaper and is quite similar in style. Good nicotine level. 9/10.

There was a time (before the much lamented Fribourg & Treyer closed) when F&T High Dry Toast was very similar to Samuel Gawith’s Irish D(ry) Light. In fact it was identical as the Kendal company merely provided the snuff which was then sold at considerably greater cost in those distinctive tall tins. Wilsons of Sharrow now make their own F&T High Dry Toast which unfortunately varies in quality. I find 'Irish High Toast' 22 to be both better and cheaper.

My favorite snuff ever. Seriously this is great stuff. It's leathery subtly complex. I belief that there is a scnet added to this snuff and I would say that scent is magic. Seriously I could see overdosing on this snuff. It's the only snuff I've done to the point of feeling over nictined. Which is very hard to do. It agrees with my nose. This is the only snuff I like to pinch solely for the fact that it feels supernaturaly silky on the fingers.

Pure and simple goodness relying solely on the tobacco and the technique. Hard to believe F&T makes some of the clunkers they do after sniffing this heavenly creation. Not being an expert, I imagine the crafting of a "naked" tobacco with this much appeal to be at least as challenging as some of the best, more complexly flavored blends. A 4.5 despite the modest satisfaction it delivers.

My favorite snuff. The scent is mild, wonderful, subtle, straight up tobacco. It's very dry, but not as dry as American scotches. Could be considered bland, but I never tire of it.

This is an extremely nice snuff. It brings to mind an old English men's club with mahogany panelled walls and old leather chairs. It has the dark smells of old saddleshops or bootmaker's workshops with hides hanging on racks and sawdust in the air. Yet it's extremely clean and without the slightest hint of unpleasantness or off flavors. Really quite remarkable. I hope they never change this snuff. It's a marvel. It's also not very hard to take, I find Seville goes further back than this one. Don't be intimidated by the toast designation. Give this snuff a try and you will surely want to keep it on hand.
Five stars.

Very light coloured and fine, this is a lovely toast with a nice, quite subtle smokiness. A great change if you are overloaded with perfumed or mentholated snuffs. As we all know, F and T is made by Wilson's - I would love to be able to compare this to the version that was made by F and T when they were in business.

Very pale, very fine, very tasty! Hard to choose between this one, Wilson's IHT No 22, Samuel Gawith's Irish D and the Frederick Tranter's IHT No 22. Nicely toasted with some wonderful lingering nuttiness. Long after taking a pinch you continue to get occasional reprises of the flavour. It's as fine and dry as one would expect of a high dry toast so some care is needed in use. It's well worth acquiring the necessary snuffing skills to really appreciate this excellent snuff.

This snuff is great! To me it is exactly like WoS Irish Toast #22. It has been described as both flavorless tobacco, and as tobacco with a nutty flavor to it. I can't tell, but it doesn't smell like other tobacco only snuffs. It too is fine and dry so make sure you can handle it before trying. It comes in one or two ounce tins with a rubber in the screw top, so it keeps very fresh for a long time! Again highly recommended.
