Reviews for Fribourg & Treyer Kendal Brown

As hard as it is for me to call this Kendal Brown, I must admit it is a most pleasant snuff. Its an even further departure from what is considered a tradtional Kendal Brown than the Wilsons's of Sharrow version. It manages to maintain some of the tradtional smokeyness, perhaps better so than the Wilsons. However, it is very floral, much more so than Wilsons. The violet is the most pronounced of the various flowers in here. It does keep some of the tradtional lemon intact as well. Friboug & Treyer were not known for making working man's snuff, so presumably they had to refine this quite a bit for their clientle. Another non Kendal KB, but a nice snuff, and as well made as any of the fine F&T offerings.

This is nearly the polar opposite of the Gawith-Hoggarth and Samuel Gawith Kendal Browns. It's a heavily perfumed, finely-ground snuff - for all intents and purposes, a completely different product. It's hardly a bad snuff - the flavor is well-balanced and lingers quite nicely, with a decent enough nic hit - but to call this a "good KB" is like calling the San Francisco Giants a good football team - they may have the same name as the Giants of New York, but it's a completely different sport.

A floral snuff that invokes memories of women's perfume. Sweet flowers with a bit of dark tobacco flavor, this KB is not bad. The aroma lasts for quite awhile, which is good for those who enjoy it. Personally, like a visit from my perfumed mother-in-law, I grow tired of this snuff quickly. As a once-a-month affair, it is nice.

I can´t really see any similarities with this KB variant and the SG / GH Kendal Browns, which are resembling. There´s an uplifting floral (Geranium among others) scent, but compared to other F&T´s it´s toned down in strength. The tobacco´s unfolding quite well (dominant, for a F&T), but it´s not such a dark, pronounced one, as in other KB´s. Has to be the finest ground F&T snuff, but still quite moist for such a fine grind. No burn and quite easy to take. Not as long lasting as other F&T snuffs.

This is my favorite of all the current Kendal Brown snuffs. It has a nice floral scent with moderate burn and the aroma lasts a good long while. It also comes in those nice F&T containers. 4 stars.

My first Kendall Brown. I like the Zimbabwe tobacco that the F&T line has. I'm glad that geranium does not dominate this scent. I can hardly tell it's there. A very nice violet, mayflower combo. I'm glad for the fine grind as it makes for a very light floral snuff with a heavy brown tobacco.

Medium brown, medium grind amd moisture. I have sampled the Samuel Gawith and Gawith Hoggarth KBs, and this seems to be very different in style. The heavy floral scent (violets very apparent) masks the citrus and tobacco flavours that characterise the style. It is enjoyable none the less and is very good in a snuff bullet.

F&T's Kendal Brown is completely different from Gawith Hoggarth's snuff with the same name. F&T's Kendal B is a fine grind and somehow moist fragrant snuff. It is definitely F&T in its floral scent. It has a moderate tobacco burn. It is enjoyable, but not as memorable when compared with other F&Ts.

Pleasant, mildly perfumed and wonderfully earthy, like a woodland glade in the autumn. (!)

Mild That Gives A Nice Perfumed Tast, A Good KB

Of fine mill, a mid to dark brown colour and medium moisture, this is probably the most perfumed Kendal Brown on the market today as well as being the most finely ground. In spite of the fine grind it is moist enough to make it easy to take. The predominant scents are violet and geranium, with enough citrus to give a pleasant bite. While I tend to prefer the more robust KBs from Samuel Gawith this one will always have a place in my snuff stash.
