A nice rich snuff seemingly using the Kendal Brown base. It has a nice moderately strong floral mixture scenting apparantly including wallflower. Sadly, it seems to dry out rapidly in the new tap out boxes. Blows out cleanly and is rather refreshing.

Dark brown, medium moist and coarsely ground, this snuff has the rich, earthy and leathery tobacco character of Samuel Gawith Kendal Brown, and the perfumed floral qualities of their Otterhound. A hefty initial nose burn subsides quickly, followed by the tobacco and some soapiness, which is then followed by a long lasting floral fragrance. Nicotine levels are modest. Distinctive, messy and moreish. 8/10.

My first try with Dark Cob today. I opened the tin and caught a perfumed and soapy aroma. The snuff was coarse and moist. In the nose, the soapy aroma seemed to take over. My first reaction was not good but as it settled in, it was better. The scent stayed with me for well over an hour. This isn't my favorite snuff at the moment but I will give it another try to see if my 1st impression was wrong.

I really like this. It combines a floral perfume with some strength and character. There may be some orange in there somewhere and/or some rose. I have grown to enjoy Dark Cob a lot. Definitely a keeper.

Rich, coarse, moist and dark brown with a strong floral scent, Cob Dark appears to be based on Kendal Brown but without the distinctive citrus/orange flavouring which is found in the latter. The grind appears to be the same and the colour is indistinguishable. Only the scent differs and what a scent! It is floral to the point of being perfumed, the scent being similar in many ways to Otterhound from the same mill, though not quite so pronounced. While I probably will never buy Otterhound again I think this is one I will return to from time to time. Worth a try but probably not in bulk. Not for me anyway.
