This is an OK snuff, but nothing more than that - a lightish floral flavour on a course flour. The problem with snuffs of this type is that they are never at their best bought in small containers that have sat around - you end up with something vaguely resembling Kendal Brown with half of the original scent gone.

First let me insert a caveat that my tin of this was old, and the snuff was dried out. Samuel Gawith's website says it should be a course and moist snuff. This was course, but also seemed to be a mixed grind, some of it being much more milled than other parts, so much so that it separated in the tin. I used about half the tin and then rehydrated, perhaps too much, its now drying again.
The flavor is not impressive, there is a light scent, hard to identify. Some detect lavender, I do not. I find this one to be more "ropey" than "soapy". Not bad, but not great.
I'll have to get a fresh tin of this to give it a fair evaluation. If it does not earn another star from me after that, then I won't get it again.

Seems I´ve received old stock, as this snuff was pretty dry and some hard chunks were inside the box. But besides that, the soapy flavour of this snuff is nothing I can really take. If you´re keen on lavender and able to get hands on a fresh box, go for it!

Deep brown, coarse and moist, and requiring a bit of effort to keep it in the nose, this snuff has a subtle lavender and citrus aroma, followed by an excellent leathery tobacco flavour. Rather similar to a Kendal Brown, but a bit coarser and with the slightly soapy lavender scent. Easy going, with no nose run or clogging so suitable for all day use. Recommended.

Dark brown, coarse grind and fairly moist with subtle lavender and citrus flavours. This one is growing on me.
