Usually one does not think of Samuel Gawith when talking of SPs, however, the ones they make are really well done, and quite different from the other companies. I have an old tin of this and a new box of this. Neither specified as being the plain or scented version, but they both carry a light scent and are different from each other. This is a rather rich SP, the citrus scenting is much more muted than in any of the Sharrow SPs, but it is present. There seems to be a strong natural tobacco sweetness to it that is really well done and most satisfiying. Its not as rich or heavy as the SP Scotch, and has a bit more citrus flavor, however, I can't pick a favorite between them. Excellent!

All“s been said about this one, but the praise shall never end. One of the best of the fabulous english SP snuffs. A lightly cooling sensation upon sniffing. Essential.

I tend to find SP style snuffs sneezy and with a tendency to hit the throat, but at last I've found one that is easy to take. Orange-brown, quite moist and fluffy and fine ground, this snuff has subtle flavours of bergamot and citrus with a satisfying tobacco base. You can keep going back for more as it doesn't block you up and the nicotine levels won't blow you away. A classic.

I have a very old tin of this so my moisture evaluation may not reflect what a fresh tin would be like. Still, I found this snuff very refreshing and I like it quite a lot more than Wilson's Best SP for example. It has a nice grind and a good flavor and it gives the right amount of eye watering and lift to make you feel alert. I admit to not liking SP very much generally but I think this is certainly one of the best if you do like SP, certainly worth trying.

A lovely snuff which deserves to be better known than it is. A hint of orange in the flavour, and although quite fine I find it an easier snuff to take than, say, Tom Buck or Queens Extra Strong. My rating should perhaps be 4.5 as I don't find the subtle flavour very long lasting, but Highly recommended. An SP par excellence. I have tried most of the S.P. types now and I think that SG No.1 High Mill comes out top of the tree. I find the flavour difficult to describe, but I love it! It is also soft in the nose, and altogether a first rate snuff, whether for novice or veteran.

This snuff is a fine grind with a light medium moisture content. Beautiful brown color but out in the sun it almost turns a rusty orange. Its a light fluffy snuff that is very easy to take and has a very velvety feeling in the nose. This is an extremely tasty SP version kissed perfectly with bergamot. Its a very enjoyable scent that you want to come back to again and again.. This is one I try not to run out of.

A truly gorgeous snuff, fruity and sweet. Samuel Gawith has been a company I've never had much to do with, but on first pinch of this I realised how much I had been missing. This is a very gentle snuff with, to me, no discernable nicotine hit (but I am an ex heavy smoker) This would be ideal for the beginner; its all flavour with not a hint of harshness or burn. According to an old snuff guide I have, the flavour is Bergamot but I get berries as well. Just delicious.

Medium moisture, fine grind and mid-brown in colour. A light SP with orange undertones and a slight nuttiness. Not unlike J&H Wilson's Top Mill No. 1. Easy to take and easy on the nose. Very nice indeed.
