I sought out the last known tin of this in existance, which I was happy to share with one of my fellow reviewers, in order to compare it to Scotch Black. Until I got it, I had presumed that it was just an older name for Scotch Black, but it seems this is not the case. They are similar in many ways though. This is a black rappee - course, dark, moist, etc. The scent is not as rich in the peaty-smokey sense as Scotch Black or even Black Rappee, though this does have a slightly sweet character to it. I can detect a very slight masculine perfuming which perhaps was due to a past storage condition rather than in the snuff itself. The snuff is theoretically a plain one. Its possible a different blend of tobaccos was used in this than in the Scotch Black, and that is what I am detecting. That subtle scent reminds me of my father somehow, I can't quite put my finger on it, but it evokes an emotion and a memory.
I suppose this one is gone for good now, and Scotch Black seems in ample availability and will satisfy my future dark rappee needs. I'm happy to have tried it before it was gone for good.

This is a dark, fairly moist snuff with deep tobacco notes. I would enjoy this one more if it was a little dryer & a little finer grind.

Nearly black, very moist and medium-coarse. Pure rich tobacco flavour. Very nice!
