Reviews for Samuel Gawith Zip Camphorated Menthol

Orangey brown, fine to medium grind and medium moisture. The camphor and menthol are quite subdued and there is the usual Samuel Gawith sweet floral/fruity finish that gets a bit cloying. Easy to take, with negligible nicotine, this would work as an all day snuff. However, the Gawith Hoggarth CM and McChrystals O&G snuffs blow this one into the weeds so I won't bother buying it again. 5/10.

Another very well done snuff from Samuel Gawith. If you don't like menthol or camphor you should probably stay away, but if you do, this is the snuff for you. The menthol and camphor are in the perfect proportions, and combined they really give your nose a blast. I do not like it in the new plastic containers, it seems when pinched the flavor is much stronger. Others compare it to McChrystal's O&G, but the two aren't even close for me. Zip is spectacular.

Smooth, easy and plain delicious. Can´t compare it to the O&G, yet, but compared with the Rumney´s Export, the low mentholization makes it all the more pleasure. Though camphor and menthol have quite a bit in common, in terms of their refreshing nature, I allways prefer camphor, as it´s also strong in flavour, but never overshadowing other flavours, as the menthol does. The balance in Zip is very well done and makes it a very easy all day snuff. Perfect to start the day (I´d take McChrystal´s JIP on days, when it´s harder to get awake fast)!

Zip would appear to be the Samuel Gawith answer to O&G, in flavour being a very smooth combination of menthol and camphor on an excellent tobacco base. Neither the menthol nor the camphor predominates and the level of menthol is quite a bit lower than in many snuffs, making it one that I can enjoy on a regular basis. It lacks something of the complexity of O&G but is nonetheless well worth trying.
