Reviews for American Snuff Company (Conwood) W.E. Garrett Sweet&Mild

This is sweeter than the other sweet snuffs from this company. I think it ranks about where Navy Sweet would in Swisher's range. Its not over the top sweet as Tops or Honey Bee. The flavor of the tobacco is similar to the other Conwood snuffs and naturally most like its brother the W.E. Garrett Scotch. This though lacks most of the smokey notes of that one and its somewhat paler. The throat drip is pleasantly sweet, as mentioned before, but it takes getting used to. It seems a bit easier to use than the strong snuffs, but still dangerous for those not used to Scotches. I'm sure one tin will last me a lifetime.

This is a great bed time snuff for me. It has just enough nicotine to relax me. It can be a little too sweet for me at times, and I couldn't use it all day, but there is always a tin of this beside my bed.

I just feel like snuffster: the regular W.E. Garrett is a very pleasant scotch, but this here is spoiled by an insane sweetness. Don´t get much of the tobacco flavour. I can´t help myself, but I just can´t see this one could have been created for nasal use. I´m afraid it will take me several centuries to finish the tin, but as itcan´t become that much drier, no big problem. And it is also relatively easy to sniff, for such a finely ground snuff

My first experience with this snuff was when I traveled 90 miles to see my granddaughters perform at a pep rally. When I got there I discovered I had left my snuff box at home. There was a local "Smokers Welcome" store and they had a very limited supply of snuffs, one of which was W.E. Garrett Sweet and Mild. I purchased a can, took what was for me was a normal pinch with other snuffs, and nearly blew the top of my head off! It was my first American snuff experience and it was an eye opener! Later when I took smaller pinches I enjoyed it more but it was a little too sweet for me. The flavor to me was chocolatey and the nicotine content very high. I don't really favor extra sweet snuffs like this one but if you do you should give it a try. A couple of more observations: the can keeps it very fresh and it is very economical. 3 stars.

Well, glory be, Mr. Garrett! You gotch'erself a mighty fine little Snuff here! The sweetness is nice. It tastes very much like Sorghum Molasses. Not a beginner's Snuff in any capacity, but a nice change from regular Scotches or HDT.

I can't believe I grew up around this stuff and never tried it nasally. This snuff is very popular in the rural areas of Arkansas, but it's mostly old ladies, and men to a lesser degree, that use it orally. I used to dip it every now and then growing up, which is quite pleasant, but I never took a toot. Now I'm kicking myself in the butt for not trying this years ago. I really enjoy this snuff. And one of my favorite things about this snuff is actually the drainage. I haven't heard anyone else mention this, but I like to take a hit of good, strong menthol like McC O&G, WoS SM 500 or the likes and then immediately follow it up with a small hit of WE sweet and mild. The menthols get your sinuses working, and then the Garrett mellows it all out and you get a really good drainage that I find pleasurable for 10-20 minutes sometimes.

I much prefer the standard scotch, as the sweetness just spoils the experience for me.

I enjoy the sweetness of this snuff. Like the W.E. Garrett's Scotch, it requires intake discipline. If I sniff it too hard, it does not bother my throat. Instead its sweetnes will give me a treat as I swallow. I find in it a lesser burn than the Scotch. Enjoyable in more than one way.

This was my first ever experience with snuff. For that reason alone I return to it sometimes for that flashback to the magic days. I have some on hand and use it for occasional mixing, tho it does tend to hijack the mix with its sweetness. Where I live its one of the most available snuffs. Its good but I've since moved on to other brands that I prefer more.

I'm a fan of Levi/W.E. Garrett's Dry Scotches and their sweet one doesn't disappoint, but it doesn't stand very high above the crowd either. Fine and dry with just enough moisture for some big snootfuls, but the hit never sends me reeling. The pleasant flavor is typical of many sweet Scotches with nothing extra special to note. A solid snuff and one I am quite happy to find but not one I'd go the extra mile for. This one and Top are close in flavor and appeal but Top edges out a bit with a slightly better flavor and a more satisfying hit.

I don't really like the burnt sugar smell of the sweet Scotches but this one is not so bad in that respect.

This is a fine and dry tan colored sweet scotch snuff. The sweetness at some times is a lot so i only use a little sometimes. Other times not so sweet especially when I'm outdoors so I will snuff my head off. I really like it when sitting around a campfire the extra smoke seems to really add something. It is also very good in the lip just pour it in but be careful not to breathes as it is not good ocularly. It has a good amount of nicotine as well.

The Sweet & Mild is similar in the base tone with the Garrett Scotch. The main difference being the added sweet molasses that mellows it out. This is a good snuff but I can't say I spend a lot of time with it. Usual American snuff grind and moisture content.

Like the Scotch, very fine, dry and smoky but it also has an underlying sweetness. Pale in colour, it has a very satisfying nicotine level. Similar to a High Dry Toast. Very nice.
