The grind is on the courser side of medium and the moisture is on the dryer side of medium. This uses de Kralingse's wonderful Virginia tobacco base, like Prins Regent and Macuba, but does not have the characteristic cognac that they do. This took a little longer for me to love then they did, nevertheless this is a first rate snuff! It is a perfect blending of clove, bergamot and lemon. The clove is the leader of the three scents, but it is not as boisterous as something like McChrystal's Clove. The citrus scents really balance this well keeping would could otherwise be an overly spicy snuff quite mellow but stimulating. The flavor lasts quite a long time. I will seriously consider getting this (and the other two mentioned) in bulk orders. My only fault with it is that it can give a little harsh throat drip due to the grind, but plenty of snuffs do, so this is well worth it.
As mentioned in other reviews, this is an excellent Christmas scent - winter warmer type snuff. Great aromatheraputic value as well!

I bought the DeKralingse line because I love latakia pipe tobaccos. Guess which item I liked best? Pompadour, the one without latakia. Now, the latakias are good snuff, and great in a tobacco like Shortcut to Mushrooms, but the Pompadour just flat smells great in my nostrils. It's like the Clove chewing gum of the Fifties that is making a comeback with Black Jack today. This is one of two snuffs I'll keep ordering. Very pleasant and easy to take.

If you´re into clove you´d give this one 5 stars and never ever run out of it, guaranteed.
But as I really loathe the smell...
Nevertheless, this is another well done snuff by De Kralingse. The grind is finer than for their Prins Regend, and that´s a good thing imo.
After some time, the spices come more to the front. Pepper for sure. Nice flavour.
But sorry, I just can´t stand clove.

All I have to say about this snuff is wow. Some how it's easier to take then it seems like it should be. The flavour is clove it's got citrus in it but the citrus isn't really a major player in the scent more behind the scenes making the clove as awesome as possible. It's a very dry clove smell yet somehow very sweet. There is also a type of old mustiness in this snuff which is wonderfully evociative of an older time. The tobacco smell is again not promonate but is the ideal complement again to the clove bringing out the spiceiness of the clove. Plus I love the container it comes in. somewhat like the poschel containers but clear so you can watch the snuff in it. I've spent more time with this one. And when used enough the citrus really starts to come out and become clear in it's own right which is when the magic of this snuff really shines. This may be the first snuff I personaly don't ever want to be out of again and might order as much as I can get my hands on.

Powerfully spicey with cloves and plenty of citrus (bergamot, lemon). The spice might be just a little bit too much for me, but I'll definitely keep trying it, because it's not bad at all.

Clove and Citrus snuff. It isn't up to par with McChrystal's Clove, but it is very pleasant.

This is the first snuff I had ever spilled the whole tin (smash box) of! That being said I ordered some more the very next order because it is a very enjoyable and relaxing clove snuff. Smooth, lingering and easy on the nose. It is occasional for me, but I do enjoy it quite a bit. To me, it and Dholakia's Manjul are best of the clove genre snuffs.

Can you say Clove? This seems to be a high quality snuff,pleasant clove taste with a noticeable nic lift,I think it tastes best in small pinches,a little goes a long way on this one.

This snuff is flavored with clove, bergamot & lemon. Its a medium dry snuff with a medium grind. This is a pretty enjoyable snuff for me if used sparingly. I get the best enjoyment from this snuff when taken in small pinches. The clove can get a little overwhelming if large pinches are taken. It has a nice long lasting scent and like Juxtaposer mentioned, it is great in the winter months competing with Bespoke Christmas Joy for my attention. I gave it a 3 only because its a seasonal snuff with me.

Well balanced. Very stimulating. Outstanding blending combination of flavors. I'll be using this for my cool weather snuff for the warming characteristics of the clove. I can't imagine a poorly made snuff ever coming out from the windmills at DeKraslingse.

This is one of the DeKralingse that is not based on their wonderful "latakia" flavor. It is a medium grind, light brown in color, and is a bit drier than most DeKralingse snuffs. The flavor is mostly clove. There are other undertones, to make it more interesting for your nose, but the main flavor is definitely clove. If you love the smell of cloves, you will love this snuff. Period. If you don't like cloves, well you won't like Pompadour.
