I've given 5 star ratings to a few of de Kralingse's snuffs before, but this one really is the best of all. In other reviews I've mentioned how certain scents can have euphoric effects when coupled with nicotine and this is one of those. Several snuffs from this company use this Virginia base, but only this and the Macuba use a particular Dutch congnac for flavoring. I do not get any rose as with Macuba, but this one has a wonderful Bergamot scenting and a lemon side note. It has the wonderful impression of being a festive spicy nature, while at the same time reminds me enormously of old ropes, oakum, tar, and sea worn wood in the boatswain's locker of an old ship. Truly a masterpiece resurrected from history. The world owes Jaap Bes a debt of gratitude for returning this snuff to us.
The odd containers are fine if you use the snuff quickly, if not it will dry out very rapidly and due to the course grind may become harsher on the throat. Find a good way to store this if you can. Hopefully this can be bought in bulk in the future.

Really nice citrus flavour. Clean and crisp in the nose. I really love the grind as it goes up the nose you can practally feel every little bit of tobacco the grind isnt like Hollandse Bolongaro this is much more uniform almost like the tobacco is cut into mini cubes. Interesting blend. Really respectable blend.

The Prins Regent is one of the more cherished ones of De Kralingse for me. Maybe you feel the same, when you first try it: nice but not too impressive. Well, this changes the longer you deal with it. The splendid Bergamot flavour didn´t strike me the first few times i sniffed it, but it hit me while revisiting it 10 days later. It´s allways a good choice to give snuffs some time, and this snuff rewards you for it. It´s unfolding a richness you hardly find a 2nd time. High class snuff at a reasonable price. And due to its coarseness, beginner friendly.

Golden brown, coarse to very coarsely ground, with little moisture. Pours freely from the oversized plastic dispenser and is very easy to take, with no sneezing or burn. A pot-pourri aroma is immediately obvious: cedar wood, rose petals, cinnamon, cloves, pine cones and jasmine. The aroma lingers nicely and is not sweet or overpowering. If you overdo it the nose run to the back of the throat can be harsh (may be due to the type of tobacco used), so I find it only suitable for occasional use. Nicotine levels medium to quite high.

This stuff is fantastic. The flavor is predominately bergamot, but after it settles in the nose floral, and herbal scents come out. A wonderful blend here. The strange plastic dispenser is a bit unwieldy, but the quality of the stuff inside it makes it well worth it.

This one became an instant favorite. A bright and tangy citrus paired nicely with bergamot stands out on top of the smooth base, perfect. I would recommend this to anyone even those who don't particularly care for bergamot. Of all the De Kralingse I've had, which has been a few, this one really stands out as their best so far. The bright, zesty tang is short lived and beg's for a recharge shortly after the first sniff. Although a short lived flavor blast, I'm left with a clean taste for a good 10 minutes afterwards. Something about the De Kralingse makes them hard for me to put down, can't wait to try the rest.

Yummy, yummy, yummy! The addition of bergamot to the cognac and rose Virginia is a true winner. I love bergamot and the character of the tasty Virginia tobacco is not lost here either. A little finer than most SP snuffs this snuff sits well in the nose. I can hardly get myself to blow. Sometimes I don't. I recommend this snuff be tried by all who enjoy bergamot.

Sweet, delicious snuff and a real gem. It has what I always call an 'old fashioned' flavour; there's something of the Gentleman's club about this, great stuff.

This is another one of those strangely addictive snuffs that Jaap Bess so masterfully creates. Quite similar to the Macouba, but with the distinctive addition of bergamot. Wonderfull on the nose before and after the blow. A great snuff for novice or experienced takers alike. Highly recommended.

The Prins Regent I have must be a little fresher than what ermtony has because the snuff I have is a solid medium moisture almost to the point of being very moist. It is full of moist clumps. Its medium dark brown and medium grind. This snuff is based off the Macuba which is cognac & rose oil. But has the addition of bergamot & lemon. The tin aroma I get from this is a warm exotic spiced lemon zest. The snuff itself is very reminiscent of the holidays for me. When I was younger my mother used to make a citrus spiced potpourri full of dried lime, lemon & mandarin orange slices, along with a few sticks of cinnamon, nutmeg and a few other spices. She would put all this in a perforated sack sort of like a giant tea bag and hang it next to the fire on Christmas. As the potpourri warmed up from the fire, it would release this incredible scent that would fill the house. This is the scent I get from this snuff. Wonderful.

Light brown, dryish and medium mill. Bergamot and a touch of citrus. Something else I can't identify. Good stuff!
