For some reason this snuff reminds me of the sticks of gum you used to get in packs of baseball cards, not sure how clove(and a few other spices) and mint mixed together makes me think of gum, but it does. And I absolutely love this stuff. Even though its fine and dry, its relatively easy to take.

I resisted trying any Dholakia snuffs for a long time because I frankly didn't want another new range of snuffs to have to try. Well, I was sent this as a sample, and it was excellent. Now I have to try them all. At first I was relieved because it seemed bland and too powdery. However, it doesn't go too far back in my throat and there is something about it that keeps me going back for more even though the scents are understated and the tobacco itself is not very tobaccoey. It's a balanced package that is very refreshing and has a nice nicotine pop.

A touch of clove - a hint of mint. No, not talking about Nat Shermans. This is Manjul, Dholakia's least perfumed of the 3 classic perfumed snuffs. Perfumed is probably not even an apt description. Spicy and minty is better, since it is not floral. The clove is the dominant spice note, but its not all pervasive as it would be in something like McChrystal's Clove. There are perhaps some other eastern spices in this as well, allspice and cinnamon have been mentioned. Perhaps also mace or nutmeg. Clove is first though, but its heat is well balanced by a slight mint/menthol element which cools everything nicely. Understandably people have strong feelings about powerful scents, such as clove, so be warned. Its very nice though, and worth a try. It has a fine grind and a strong nicotine punch. "Manjul" means "loveable" in Hindi.

I got a sample of this with my last snuff order. It is the most vile, disgusting stuff I've ever put up my nose. I hate All Spice and it is rank with it. If you value your olfactory sense, stay way from this.

Dholakia's website describes the flavors of Manjul as "defined combination of mint, clove and tobacco leaves." It is very fine and if taken nasally, I should be careful when inhaling it. I experience a pleasant and smooth clove flavor on a clear tobacco base. As I researched, in India it is taken orally. When I do so, I can experience the mint better. It complements gin and tonic well. I recommend this snuff to those who want to experience exotic snuffs with a liking of incense-like flavor. I encorage the taker to try it orally.

I've returned to Manjul after a few month's break and have noticed that it is much easier on the nose after being left to 'breathe' for a while. Can't really detect any mint or cinnamon, but the clove is definitely there. A nice picker-upper of a snuff.

Too strong and spicy for me. It's better than Kamal and Ganga but still way too overwhelming.

clove and mint. The mint isn't perceptable but it does accent the clove smell in such a way as to mellow the clove bite and almost sweeten the clove. I enjoy this snuff muchly. very fine though and you have to be carefull snuffing it. It has a very cleansing feel to it. I think clove must have some antiseptic value as it does seem to clean the sense of smell up very well even after the scent has worn down.

I can appreciate what others see (smell) in this snuff but it really isn't for me. The flavour of cloves predominates over the others (cinnamon and mint) and it just reminds me too much of visits to the dentist.... Having said that it isn't going in the bin!

Of the three Dholakia exotic Eastern snuffs; Ganga, Kamal and Manjul, I find Manjul to be the most user friendly and familiar tasting. I think this one could easily become a favorite to those who find some of their more exotic offerings too strong or difficult to use. The perfect hybrid of strength and flavor and just a bit easier to take than some of their other ultra-fine snuffs. Clove, cinnamon and allspice assault the senses initially with a touch of menthol and a hint sweetness to round it all out. Fantastic snuff and second only to Kamal in my choice of their traditional offerings.

The Manjul snuff is also very delicious, as the package states. A very nice light clove fragrance is noticeable but not overwhelming, with hints of cinnamon, chocolate and possibly carnation. Medium to high level of nicotine in this high quality offering. I have a hard time keeping the names straight and I apologize for being tardy in my reviews but I could go on and on about the distinctness of this one. I have been savoring this one to the last grain and I am sad to say that it is all but gone. I will be purchasing more from Dholakia ASAP! 4.6 nostrils ~Myche

This snuff all but killed me when I first tried it. I took a HUGE pinch and WOW!! What a kick! Aside from Swiss Chocolate, this is my favourite DHOLAKIA snuff. I use it every day. Hard for me to describe the flavour but it must be the cinnamon, the strength and the long lasting aroma which makes me so fond of this snuff. Never want to be without it ever.

The lovely scent reminds me of the smell of a carnation. The clove cinnamon mint type flavor is one of my favorites. This snuff is very fluffy and slightly mentholated. I do prefer my menthols to be a little stronger but I don't think this type of grind would allow for that. It's just too fine. A nice snuff to have on hand not having to worry that it will dry out I'll keep it handy in one of my secret boxes for now. The tobacco base for this is pretty good too, like the Sparrow snuff.

I am new to the snuff world so I had no idea when I ordered this that it was clove flavored. I used to smoke clove cigarettes but got burnt out on the flavor. I actually got to the point that the smell of a clove cigarette would leave me nauseated! For some reason though, I really like this snuff. For the longest time I actually thought that the flavor was a subtle cinnamon rather than clove. Until I get burnt out on this, it'll remain in my rotation. It is pretty dry and I prefer more moist snuffs, so I had to give it 4 stars rather than 5.

As the other reviewers suggest, this is quite a tricky snuff to take and a first pinch that is either too big or too quickly inhaled can be rather mind blowing. However, when you have the knack the snuff is very beautiful and spicy. I think the Dholakia range is maginificent and this snuff is a worthy member of the family As an addition to my first review, I have now been using this as a mixer in various home blends and it's superb; to the extent I hardly ever use it 'neat' anymore. My favourite is simply to add a small amount to plainer snuffs such as HDT or SPs - it adds a beautiful spicy note to them.

Clove oil is an absolute no-no with me as it it always reminds me of using it on an aching tooth years ago. This snuff is a free sample from Dholakia, and not something I would have bought. The three stars are in anticipation for when I next get toothache!

My favorite Dholakia snuff. Again a very agreeable fine dry powdered snuff. I can take large pinches without problems. Seems to have a medium nicotine content. Not quite as nose clearing as kamal but I do find I like the spice better than floral scent. Again this wasn't love at first sniff but giving it a chance has become one of my favorites. I say it is a good all day snuff. Sniffs well, clears good, blows out nice. Scent hangs in nose for a good while. If you love spice cookies and snuff this one will win your nose and heart.

This one is a very delicate clove scented snuff with maybe a slight hint of mint. Like the rest of the India line of Dholakia snuffs this one is a dry extra fine grind and will take some practice for beginners to get the hang of. Definitely a quality snuff, right up there with DeKralingse Pompadour at the top of the list of clove scented flavors.

I know some of you guys got to be say, “she must be kidding”. Because it’s hard for me to believe that one company has so many flavor that I enjoy. Not once have a smelled ammonia in the Dholakia snuff. I know that many say that it’s due to the freshness that you smell ammonia. But there are fresh snuffs out there that do not have a hint of ammonia in them at all. This is one that should be add to the list. Manjul brought back memories of my mother making Southern Style Peach Cobbler. The spices you smelled while it was being prepared and cooked. The clove is definitely there, not at all overpowering the tobacco. I’ve read other review where they reviewer mentioned that they detected the clove. I’m going to step out there and say that I also feel there is another spice added as well. It may be in my mind, but I think there is some freshly ground allspice in this snuff. This snuff is finely ground almost to a powder and dry. To hard of a sniff could send it flying to the back of your throat. I enjoy Manjul by it’s self. I also enjoy it with Magnet Peach it tastes like Peach Cobbler and/or Peach Pie.

This is a rather nice snuff. I first acquired this over a year ago, at the time I was not familiar with fine grind snuffs, and I set it aside for a while as I could not get over the sneezing factor of this snuff. However, as I have progressed from rapee to mediium grind and then to High dry toast's, I have revisited the Dholakia Manjul. Having sniffed very gently this time around, I found the snuff to have a beautiful flavour. For a long time, I regarded Indian snuffs to be of a low standard of quality, however, this is a very bad generalisation as this snuff is excellent. It may not have a place in my regular rotation yet, as I still enjoy coarser snuffs, but perhaps one day I'll be able to sniff this one like a pro. It has a scent that lingers on and on in the nose, it's very sweet and very enjoyable. A floral nose with a hint of citrus and musk. I highly recommend this snuff.

This snuff has a very enjoyable clove/spice scent that goes really well with the winter holidays. Extra fine & dry.
