Reviews for Gawith Hoggarth Dry Orange

I quite like this one. The orange is very subtle. I too, would have said its an orange zest flavoring, but one review below points out that it is orange blossom. The scent seems very natural compared to the Pöschl concoctions. Not as overt in orange as the Toque St. Clements, perhaps, since it is either zest or blossom. It reminds me in many ways of my old Smith's Lemon. It is indeed quite dry, but most Gawith Hoggarth snuffs are. It also has that burning sting that GH snuffs give, that one either gets used to, or gives up on the whole brand. I only give it three stars, but its unique enough that I could keep it among my permanent collection.

Dry but not fine. Slightly sweet. Slightly floral. Stings good. This is the first Gawith Hoggarth snuff I have tried. Given as a sample with a friends order. Good of him to share. So far none of these snuffs have made my "to try" list. This sample doesn't seem to change that. It is a little soon to say but so far I'm not impressed. Not bad though.

My 2nd GH and I see a tendency here. This is a VERY dry snuff and the most unpleasent effect of this is, that it burns upon sniffing. Has to be sniffed in very little portions or it´s rather painful. The flavour... well, I don´t get the oranges too much. It´s there, very faintly, but more obvious than that, there´s a a bit of mint and a waxy flavour. Now, how appealing is wax flavouring...? Yeah, this is quite off putting. The grind is very inconsistent, from extra fine to coarse, so "medium" isn´t really correct.

This snuff feels good in your nose. I expected an orange peel scent in this snuff, but that is not what I got. The scent is more like orange blossoms. I will probably revisit this review after I finish a 10g tin and have given it a fair trial. I like it, but was disappointed due to my preconceived notions of what it would be. EDIT: Well I've found out GH Dry Orange is made of an oil extracted from orange blossoms, not from zest. I do like it well enough that I have ordered another tin, but it is not one of my top 5.

Nice snuff with a good dry, tangy flavour.

Typical medium grind, dry, medium brown tobacco base found in many Gawith Hoggarth snuffs. I bought this one based on the appetising name, but unfortunately it doesn't live up to expectations from this usually excellent snuff-maker. The initial scent is quite cooling (subtle menthol?), followed by a very underwhelming dried orange peel aroma, cheap chocolate and straw-like tobacco. The lingering flavour reminds me of vitamin tablets I took as a child (synthetic chocolate orange). Nicotine levels average. 4/10.

This snuff delivers a moderate tobacco burn and it is easy to over sniff. It satisfies. I find the flavor to be a note that breaks or accentuates the crisp flavor of the tobacco base. The orange did not jump out at me, it is more like brushed into the blend. It is a nice summer snuff.

Reminds me of cough medicine but it's great. Not a very sweet orange but very good. This is one of the snuffs that disapears faster then it should. Oh and the drip actualy taste very good as it a lot sweeter then the orginal.

I got some of this a few years back, and hated it. I've since gotten a new tin and I love it now. The flavor isn't really orange, as it is just orange peel. It's great when you want the citrus flavor without it being overpowering or too sweet.

Interesting snuff. The orange scent reminds me a little of an orange cleaner I used to have around the house. That's not necessarily a bad thing. I've had the same 10g tin for over 2 years but still enjoy a pinch every now and then.

Very nicely done dry snuff with the refreshing essence of orange. This medium strength snuff imparts a pleasant cooling sensation and a satisfying burn for a refreshing break without the menthol. I can sniff this stuff all day, nicely done!

Really good snuff. Nice dry snuff. Though I find the scent very artifical but in a great way reminds me of orange flavoured childrens cough medicines.

Not a strong smell of oranges but the flavour comes through nicely when sniffed.
