Reviews for Gawith Hoggarth Jasmin

Well its "Jasmin" not "Jasmine" for some reason. This is not bad, though not ideal. I think the best Jasmine snuff would be halfway between this and Wilsons. I may mix them and see what happens. Its rather light in scent and doesn't have a overly pervasive floral character to it. It might be a little boring in that regard. It uses the typical Gawith Hoggarth base, which is dry and a little sharp and stingy. I don't find the scenting completley accurate, there is a slight chemical nature to it, but its not offensive by any means. I have nothing good to say about GHs tap out boxes. I invariably pour out too much and its not easy to put the excess back in the box. I prefer to pinch anyway, especially a snuff this dry. These boxes can be pried open with some difficulty, but better just to have a spare tin or snuffbox for it.

The jasmine scent is spot on!! I doubt if I could distinguish this from an actual jasmine flower. Of course this was to be expected as GH does a magnificent job with their floral snuffs. Although I find the scent to be more accurate here, I still prefer Wilson's version as it seems to be more than just jasmine.

Medium brown, quite finely ground, quite dry and pours easily out of the flip top dispenser. Jasmine aroma obvious initially, which is slightly soapy, but subsides quickly to leave a good tobacco flavour, which is woody and straw like (rather like a countryside farmyard barn). Some burn in the nose, but otherwise very easy to take and not cloying or clogging. Very well balanced and the subtleness makes it less tiresome than other strongly scented snuffs, and I imagine enjoyable for those who don't usually like floral styles. 8/10.

Love this snuff. VEry real jasmine scent. If you take this snuff then sniff a jasmine flower the flower will seem scentless! The tin on this one is dangerous because it is easy to poor to much out. Though for how dry and fine it is it is easy to take. opps thought I was signed in. I most add in my regular rotation.

Clean and fragrant jasmine scent. Fine and dry is easy to over sniff. It has a moderate tobacco burn that satisfies. For some reason, this one reminds me of the scent of a particular soap on a rope that I had and loved as a kid.
