Reviews for Hedges L260 'The Snuff'

I suppose every snuff taker has to sample this one at one point, it being such a prominent one. Very medicinal tasting. I'm not sure what the odd herbal flavor is beyond the very strong menthol. Its somewhat sour tasting. It doesn't taste like either camphor or eucalyptus, the usual two suspects. At first I did not like it, now it simply seems "medicinal." There is also a pleasant sweetness in this. Good head clearing effect.

I had to try it being the only snuff that they make under that label. Not bad at all. A very clean snuff with a nice reddish color to it. The tin opens easily for a quick pinch. Any menthol lover must have this for sure. A little boring I'd say but that's what makes it clean. This is what I would use to mentholate an SP if I was in the mood. Classic is what makes this snuff special. Also L260 goes well with C420!

WOW! Smooth, yet strong menthol hit. Very easy to take. This will clear the sinuses but it doesnt seem to burn at all! Nicotine hit is quite strong. BIG tins with alot so superb value!

Although this snuff is very strong on Menthol, it is my go-to snuff! I love it. Everything about it speaks of class. It's easy to snuff; it clears the sinuses; the tobacco is first-rate; it is a great nicotine high. If you like Menthol, I strongly urge you to try this one. Although I do like McChrystals O&G, and frequently use it, Hedges takes it up about three notches and is very strong and relaxing.

This is my favorite snuff. Rather strong menthol but not as strong as Ozona President. The grind is perfect and the snuff is easy to take. A lot of nicotine in it too. This is the only snuff I use every day. Not sneezy and easy to use for beginners, even if the nicotine kicks rather good the first few times. Strongly recommended.

Lovley texture. Soft and smooth. Powerful menthol, indeed. I could enjoy this snuff if it weren't for the overwhelming sinus clearing power provided by the menthol. I liken the subsequent effects of snuffing this stuff to throwing up out of your nose. Sort of a shame.

This is my go-to for a good head clearing after a day with any other snuff. After 15 minutes with Hedges, my palate is cleared and I can go after the snuff of my choosing. The menthol is strong. There is no subtlety to the flavors, but this is definitely an experience. Use your favorite snuff, wash up with Hedges, and repeat.

During my 37 year smoking career I never smoked anything but menthol cigarettes on a regular basis. Strangely, I find myself enjoying non-mentholated snuffs much more than I did non-mentholated cigarettes. Still, I consider myself a connoisseur of menthol, and it doesn't get much better than this. McC O&G is a desert island snuff, and is more complex than this one, with a bit of citron and a more interesting tobacco base. But as far as pure, eye-watering, sinus-clearing menthol goes, this can't be beat. "The Snuff" indeed, for menthol lovers; I always keep a large supply of this on hand. High nicotine, with a long lasting "icing" sensation. Medium grind and medium moisture makes it very easy to take, but I was surprised at the punch even a small pinch packed.

The menthol part dominates this snuff. What made this a bit scary, was the fact, that there were some icicle like grown menthol structures, when I reopened the tin after a couple of weeks. For sure, a less menthol-version would generate more friends, because the scented tobacco beside the menthol is very complex and good.

This one is very good comparing it to O&G it is a little monotone, but the menthol hits a bit harder and lasts longer but kind of develops a bit at the end reveling a quality tobacco after the menthol blast. I will probably get it again in time a bit pricey but a good change of pace. I am curious as to who makes this stuff, dunno if it is made by hedges or McCrystals or some other company it has a very similar container to McCrystals but that doesn't really mean anything. Its neat and if you want a good strong menthol it works well.

This is the finest and the best mentholated snuff out there, I have tried most of mentholated snuff, this one is definitely the best. Highly recommended.

Chemical warfare for a headcold. I am frankly amazed that I am detecting subtle undertones of flavor besides the menthol. Something sweet, more tthan that I can't tell. I am a bit ambivalent about menthol usually, but this is something else. It won't be an everyday snuff for me to be sure, but I am currently enjoying the hell out of it. Unfortunately, the flavor is so bold and has so much staying power I believe I won't be able to take other snuffs this evening.

Ridiculously strong menthol - this will not only clear your head, if you're not careful it'll blow it off too! The flavour lasts a long time, once your nose has unfrozen it is very pleasant. Nice on a hot summer's day. 'The Snuff' indeed.

Now, the guys producing this owe me a new pair of shoes and a new roof. How much menthol do you think can be put into a tin this size? Take it x 10! Unbelieveable. If you´re a menthol fan, you just can´t get around this snuff, and highly likely stick to it. Otherwise, like myself, you might regret that this is only available in this huge tin, just to have tried it once. I have to recognise its qualities. That little tobacco flavour that gets past the menthol wall seems to be just splendid. Maybe it was intended for medicinical use. Unlikely any germs might survive this menthol blast.

For a menthol lover like me, this snuff is heavenly. Fine, moist and easy to take with a very strong menthol kick, enhanced by plenty of nicotine. I make sure I am sitting down when I have a pinch of this! Not subtle, not sophisticated, but if you need a pick-me-up you can't go far wrong with "The Snuff".

Mind blowing and Nose blowing! Only just received this snuff for the first time. I am not really a menthol fan but this may be something else. Long lasting effect and just the thing to try when getting up in the morning. I hope it becomes one of my favourites, if only because this is the only snuff I can buy over the counter in my town, although I bought this on-line from Snuff Store U.K along with some other snuffs that I have had before. The strong menthol is different than the Poschl products. and I have high hopes! Although it seems a bit expensive, it comes in a large tin, I should guess about the same volume as F & T.

How bombastic! A snuff called "The Snuff". But the hubris is not only deserved, it is the key to this finely crafted mixture. Yes there is lots of menthol. But the menthol in Hedges snuff is as a fine wine is to £2.99 plonk. I like Poschl menthols a lot, but this makes Poschl menthol seem a bit ersatz. Secondly, the tobacco is first rate and discernable as a multiplicity of subtle undertones. The texture and moisture is just right. It comes in big tins. That's because nobody is going to throw this away. If I were to be consigned to a desert island with one choice of snuff, this would be it. It deserves its name. As far as I am concerned it is "The Snuff". Try it before you die.

Too strong on the menthol for me. It's a blast of icy menthol that covers up all tobacco. I don't fancy the menthol flavor either but I think that's because I've gotten used to camphor with my menthol.

Its a long time since I have used any menthol snuff, but if I started again, L260 would be the one of choice and this was the first snuff I ever tried. The great thing about L260 is that it has a good flavour as well as the usual menthol blast - a lot of the menthols do lack this I think. And for some reason it goes great with a good beer, preferably real ale. One of the true classics.

Hedges L260 I was warned this was the strongest Menthol Snuff compared to others I’d sampled. Well they were correct. I couldn’t pass up a snuff that is made from it’s original recipe dates back to the 1800's. It’s surely a snuff to be used when you have a cold. That is the only time I see myself using it. It does have a wonder tobacco undertone. It’s definitely a keeper!

Very powerful menthol, clears the head but over-strong on the menthol for me. In fact the menthol is so strong I couldn't guess what the base tobacco is like. It's fine, dryish and medium brown, if that helps.

My first ever snuff... As a wee small boy I found a tin of this in the street, and, to my great joy, there was some left in it... So, before my Mother could stop me, I took a pinch! Have never looked back, even if I did sneeze without control for some time afterwards. Needless to say, it didn't put me off and I still enjoy sampling the L260 from time to time...
