I'm not a big fan of black coffee so I'm probably a poor reviewer for this one. I do, however, enjoy the aroma of fresh ground coffee beans and I didn't get it here. My sample was in one of the old round tins so that could have affected it. One thing I find irritating about S. Gawith snuffs is that they don't fill their containers, most I get are only 2/3 full. 2 stars.

This is one of my favorite coffee-scented snuffs. It's dark, strong, and the scent lasts for long time. I wouldn't want to take it all day, it's usually one I use in the evenings. It has a scent that reminds me of two things - walking into a store that sells good pipe tobacco, and coffee made from fresh-ground beans (instead of canned grounds). Gives a bit of burn up front and mellows out pretty quickly. I want to always have some on hand, and find myself using it sparingly to "save" it.

When I tasted this snuff for the first time about 9 months ago, I did not like it. I've recently ordered some more and, what a delight. Maybe the first tin was stale. This is coffee at its best. Easy to take with a nice long lasting, real coffee aroma. I've emediately ordered some more, never want to be without this one again. This snuff is equally suitable for novices and veterans.

Dark brown, moist, coarse and crumbly. Easy to snuff large pinches, with some initial burn, which subsides quickly. Coffee aroma very subtle (not as obvious as Toque Espresso), with an earthy slightly smokey tobacco flavour and a hint of leather. Nicotine levels are reasonable. This snuff complements a good cup of coffee brilliantly, but does not attempt to mimmick one.

Well, let me say this: after trying this, I would like to try the "cup of tea" blend next time around. That being said, I was disappointed with this coarse/moist snuff.
I must also now say that this is really growing on me and I am growing to quite like it.
As someone said somewhere "it's more like the smell of an empty cup of decent coffee"
It reminds me of the smell of a nice tobacco shop but I will not be buying any in my next purchase. Update: I like this one more and more and more and I am growing to really appreciate the coffee flavor. I think it i getting a stronger scent with age somehow but it is very pleasant.

Pretty good snuff I like the dark roasted coffee scent, until I get what a different review calls smoky. I couldn’t really make out what that scent was until he said smoky. It’s not an all day snuff. I doubt I will use it often as well. Yet it was a very interesting experience and gives me a point of comparison to other coffee snuffs. I can now say I’ve tried Samuel Gawith Black Coffee.

This is a great snuff with a nice smokey dark roast coffee scent. For me its a nice everyday snuff. Black in color, moist & medium/fine in texture

I do not like the smell of this snuff, it is to "dark" for me. I did mix it with some other stuff but will not order again.

Black coffee is a favorite of mine,I use it all day.This is a fairly moist (when fresh)fine/medium grind with a strong lasting scent,nice dark earthy tone,easy to snuff and good nicotine content.Comes in the new 10 gr plastic carton that keeps it fresh.
