J&H Wilson Top Mill is probably my favourite SP. it’s a little finer than most and a little sharper in the nose than the No 1. More tobacco flavour than citrus, which I like. The little blue tins can dry the snuff, but if you get a nice fresh tin it is medium moist . I can’t seem to find the 25g tins anywhere. You can actually buy this in the little tins from Morrison’s supermarket, which is the only supermarket to sell snuff in the UK as far as I know. They only stock the Top Mill No.1 but its really quite nice to walk into a local shop to pick up some snuff. It gets an extra star for the convenience.

Quite similar in many ways to its brother S.P. No. 1. This is a good example of a plain SP. It does have a light citrus note, but much less than the S.P. No. 1. It also is somewhat more robust in tobacco flavor and is really rather satisfying. The flavor is not unlike the Samuel Gawith Yellow Crest. I hope someday to acquire the larger 25g vaccum tin of this and give it a proper evaluation.

Compared to the SP #1, this J&H Wilson snuff is far less pronounced on citrus and bergamot, but lets more of the exquisite tobacco flavour come through. Still, I´d prefer the SP #1, as it gives just enough of the tobacco but the stronger other flavours enhance it. Still, this is a top choice and outstanding compared to other offerings. Only this little container is pain.

A nice SP with a decent kick and moderate burn.
Great on a day where you're sampling several different snuffs and fancy an SP. but do not wish to have it take over the flavour of all the others.
Not as piquant as some, but it's one I wouldn't wish to be without now.
It actually gets a 4.5 star rating, if I were allowed to do so.

Very similar to the S.P. No. 1 snuff. Stronger tobacco and citrus notes. It is very tasty. The grind is fine but not fine like a toast or American snuff. It is very easy to take. The snuff comes in a very tiny plastic rectangular tin with a metal lid. This is not a good closing tin. A large 25g plus tin is round with a vaccum packed twist off top. I recomend the small tin to try it out

Top Mill No. 1, is like a weak SP in my opinion. The grind and moisture content are perfect for my tastes, but the scent is somewhat lacking. If you're looking for a snuff that's not heavily scented, and rather plain, than this is the snuff for you. I enjoy a pinch of it every now and then, but it isn't something I ever really get a craving for. I think this tiny blue tin will last me quite some time.

Fine and medium-dry, this is classic snuff. It's relatively plain with a light citrus/orange flavour and an underlying gentle nuttiness which I find most enjoyable. In taste it has something in common with Samuel Gawith's No. 1 High Mill.

I LOVE this snuff, its great. I HATE the containers, it's RUBBISH. Will buy the snuff again once it's packed in usable boxes.

This is a fine dry snuff with a light brown color. The snuff itself comes in the petite little rectangular plastic container with a tin lift off lid. Its a pretty nice enjoyable toasted sp snuff. Its not real strong in scent but enough that you can tell what your sniffing. I do wish I could find this in a larger container as the amount in the container would be gone in less than a day if used by itself throughout the day. Not widely stocked online but is worth looking for.

Apart from newspaper shops in the North of England, you won't see this on sale anywhere and its only recently that its become more widely available online; as a result its not that widely known and hardly mentioned on snuff forums. Its a plain SP type with maybe a hint of smokiness in the background as well as the usual touch of citrus. A good snuff, once beloved of Lancashire coal miners and probably deserving of a bit more exposure.

Fine Grind, quiet ordinary plain with maybe just a slight trace of menthol. This is about the only snuff sold in most news paper shops around here.

A very fine and dry plain snuff, monotonous and lacking compared to Irish d light, but still a tasty snuff, decent nicotine and easy to take despite the fine grind.
