I was not liking this at first finding that Zwiefacher was so much better. Camphor and no sweet pine scent here. There is a subtle smokiness upon sniffing and a deeper mentholated schmalzler scent." Take this excellent tobacco for the nose only." Is what it says on the dispenser. Would be four stars but it's not to my fancy.

A nice fluffy schmalzler from Bernard's. Comes in a tapbox, and comes out the side in rather large clumps. It very easily breaks up into more manageable size, though, and is actually a pretty fine grind compared to their other snuffs I have. In the background, there is a very pleasant fruity smell. Dominating this one is camphor, however. Initially, I mistook it for menthol, but just saw it mentioned here, and agree it does smell exactly like camphor. To me, that makes it delicious. I just wish I could buy a massive bag of it.

This is an unusual Bernard snuff. Is it a Schmalzler even? Well, I can´t tell. It is very rich for sure. The way it comes out of the dispenser it seems very fluffy, but when pinched it reveals to be a fine to medium grind. Good grade of mentholization, not sharp or strong, only enhancing instead of overshadowing the flavours. The tobacco base is a slightly smokey one and the flavours are fruity. Clove seems to be in here as well and it stands out a bit. I don´t like clove, but it plays a good and important part in this mixture I must say. I don´t really get the camphor others have detected. Seems the person responsible for brand artwork took his day off, when they created this snuff. It´s very minimalistic. Gold lettering on black.

Dark chocolate brown, finely ground and medium moist, very fluffy and extremely easy on the nose. This snuff has the fruity, cake-like qualities of a schmalzer, but with menthol, some wood smoke and a satisfying tobacco aroma. Large pinches can be taken with ease, although I find with most German mentholated snuffs, over-indulgence will sometimes lead to an unpleasant throat drip. That aside, this is a good, cooling and soothing anytime snuff. 8/10.

Nice schmalzler with menthol. Not overmedicated, but notably cooling. I can taste a little fruitiness and the slightest smokiness on this one. I find the tobacco base a little subdued by the flavors, but it is enjoyable. It has a very little to none tobacco burn and easy to take. I agree with betonente that it could clog if overindulged. I find this snuff interesting and elegant.

Another great Schmalzler from Bernards. This one is lightly medicated, with the fruity/smoky taste coming through as well. I have yet to find some snuff from Bernards that I don't like.

I think lots of people will love this snuff. I don't enjoy this snuff. I do find it perfectly servicable and easy to take. I really like 90 percent of the way this snuff smells in fact I love it. The problem I have is that there is a very clear and distinct smokey smell which is actualy really very good but when it hits the nose with the other great smells in this snuff it just doesn't agree with me. If I could some how speerate the smokiness from the other scents I think I would have two amazing snuffs.

This reminds me of The lip balm Carmex,It's a light brown fine ground snuff with plenty of camphor and nicotine. After the camphor fades there is a nice tobacco undertone, this might grow on me,but for now I'll only use it sparingly.

Camphor, little menthol, dates, medicinal. I'm very partial to this one.

this is the most camphorous (if there was such a word) snuff i ever had. it comes in a handy box with a slide lid. the price is a bit higher than most other german snuffs. its coulour is of a medium brown, the grind is very fine. it is, however ver moist. so moist that it clumps a bit. but the moistness also makes it easy to sniff for me. the taste is very earthy. like a potters workshop. and then there is this camphor note as of camphor powder, very agreeable. i find this tobacco very soothing and it is cooling without overdoing the menthol trick. the only issue that i have with it is its tendency to clog me up. recommended.
