This is an excellent schmalzler. Its not quite as sweet and rich as the Doppel-Fermentiert, presumably because this was only fermented once. The name feinst, meaning "finest" is also identified in some vendors' lists as "delikat" or delicate. Basically this means there are more gentle and finer flavors in this than in its brother the "Fresco". Don't let that name confuse you, becuase this is schmalzler we're talking about, so its still quite rich and bold. The term "feinst" is relative in that regard.
Same high quality Brasil tobacco, same high quality fermenting process (once only for this one) and same basic flavor as the doppel. This one has a bit more of a smokey flavor and more earthy/peaty. All the maple/date type flavors are here but more subdued. This is somewhat courser and also a little dryer. Subsequently the schmalzler particles are more crystal like in nature and can cause a little nose sting until they dissolve in your mucous where they will eventually cause heavy running.
I bought this in a 20g foil pack which is almost gone. It looks like they don't sell them like that anymore, so it will be the 10g tap boxes from now on. I'm somewhat dissapointed at that. If you do find it in foil packs, transfer to an airtight snuff bottle (a glass screw top spice bottle works if you can't find anything else) to prevent it drying. I know of no way to rehydrate a schmalzler.

On the fine and dry side for a schmalzler, it smells very fruity, with a slight honey scent in the background. Not very difficult to take, and actually works fairly well with the Bernard's dispenser. It's something I like to take pretty often, although the sweetness would get a little too much for me to do all day long.

Of all the Schmalzler on the market, this is propably the easiest one to sniff, due to its drier nature. Easy to take and everything stays in the nose - quite a good thing. In comparison to the Brasil Doppelt Fermentiert, this one, as the name suggests, ain´t twice fermented. Still, it is very flavourful, mainly raisins and maple shine through. But it is a bit "lighter" than the other Bernard Brasil Schmalzler, making it the best all day Schmalzler from them. I guess this is the perfect choice for a novice to Schmalzler, as it´s also the easiest to take.

I think it's the same basis like the "Brasil doppelfermentiert" but with a sweeter aftertaste. The raisins or figs-flavour is the main topflavour. Earthyness and coffeeflvour is following after a while. Not bad for a change but in my opinion to dry for a Schmalzler.

This was my first schmalzler snuff. I loved it and I still like it a lot. It has an earthy, definitely fermented, and darkly sweet flavor. The process pays respect to the tobacco and it offers it in a very interesting rendition. It tastes like molasses to me. It is very easy to take, but it can be clogging if overindulged. I recommend it to the non-menthol fans.

schmalzery for sure. It really reminds me of maple and choclatly (not really choclate at all but similar in a strange way). Reminds me of candy actualy. good to take in piles and piles of snuff. I find it disapears very quickly. It does not pinch well which is fine because it is so easy to take you can just snort a pile of it without any throatness happening (I can get poschels in my throat). I like snuffs like this as the first thing in the morning when my nose is very sensitive.

This is an excellent combination of true tobacco flavor and the kind of moisture I like. While the thickness of this snuff does take some getting used to, its grind ensures it will never fly down your throat, which I appreciate. In the flavor department, Brasil Feinst starts off with a rich, sweet raisin note, married with a slight but meaningful pepper undertone. What's more, the flavor just goes on and on. If you're looking for a full-bodied moist snuff, look no further.

Once I got used to the feel of this snuff in my nose (its very coarse and initially I was very aware that I had a nose full of it) I enjoyed it very much. The maple scent stand out among many other scents. Very complex scent. I believe it is a great example of a fine German schmaltzer.

Dark Coarse, Unlike The Menthol Snuffs, This One Has A Lasting Kind Of Warming Feel

I pick up something like peat. It reminds me of when I'm walking through an area of a damp forest that gets no sun and there is lots of moss, ferns and decomposing leaves and mushrooms growing out of a rotted leather boot.

A dark, coarse, moist Schmalzler with a sweet maple flavour. Probably favourite of all the Bernard Schmalzlers - I certainly have plenty of it stashed away!
