Very good stuff! A full bodied schmalzler like tobacco blend. Complex, slightly sweet and smokey. Very soft. Not at all cloying. Just delicious. Elegant I'd say. Highly recommended to all snuff connoisseurs.

Absolutely fantastic stuff. Rich, smokey, barbecue goodness. Not much to add to this as Xander has said it all.

Oh my! What have I discovered? Another favorite? Lets start by looking at the bottle. This is one of the great Bernard snuffs, that thankfully survived the transition to tap out dispensers and remained in its very classy sealable glass bottle. The bottle is easy enough to use as a dispenser, it just doesn't travel as well due to its bulk and risk of breakage. The German writing on the side translates: "Civette specially pure tobacco flavour, mildly co-ordinated, extraordinarily fine-grained." Its grain is fine by comparison with German snuffs, but more of a medium on a worldwide scale. Its moist and fluffy and has a scent that screams Bavaria or Oktoberfest at you! Red Star, below, got it right when he says it reminds him of a Black Forest smoked ham. I would have said bacon until I read that. Its more accurate. The full richness of the tobacco is really brought forward and complimented by the smoked meat scents. Lots of smokey woody barbecue snuffs are out there, but they don't all hit the mark. This one does. "Civette?" well that's a French word. It means chives! I'll be damned if I don't get a nice chive taste in this too! It really all goes together very nicely. Excellent!

Another of Bernard's non-schmalzler varieties, this one reminds me very much of an American Scotch. While it's about the same for grind, moisture, and colour as the Pariser Nº 2, this one has that barbecue smell to it that I associate with Ralph's, or Rooster. Very pleasant, since I'm a fan of the scotches, as well as being much easier to take.

My goodness, this snuff tastes exactly like an exquisite, german blackforest smokedried, honey flavoured ham. The sweetness is very subtile, but all the more delightfull. Too late to thank the blender, as the recipe´s dating back to 1915... Highly recommended to all lovers of smokey snuffs. This is simply addicting stuff.

Like several of the other plain, non-Schmalzler Bernard snuffs, this one comes in a 14g bottle. The grind is medium-fine and it is medium-dry in moisture. The colour is mid to dark brown. This is a mixture of various pure tobaccos with little or no extra flavouring. That isn't to say that this snuff is boring! Far from it. In there I can detect touches of cigar, citrus leather and musk, no doubt all from the tobacco fermentation process. The recipe dates from 1915. A most interesting snuff.
