Reviews for Swisher Railroad Mills Sweet Scotch

Not an overdone sweetness, but still strong enough to distract from the qualities I cherish in the Railroad Mills Plain Scotch, which is one of the best Scotch Snuffs.

This is VERY similar to Navy Sweet. Its slightly less smokey and also slightly less sweet than Navy. To me that's a slight improvement, but not better enough to earn a 3rd star. I'm somewhat biased against the sweet scotches in general, so when I give one 2 stars its pretty good (for what its trying to be). The reduced sweetness, of which I presume is molasses, makes this one less sticky in the nose. It feels on the whole lighter and more airy than Navy and the really sweet ones. Overall not bad, but I prefer the plain and strong Scotches to the sweet ones any day.

Smokey with intermediate level of sweetness, this is the second American Scotch that I tried. Nice nicotine hit but not overwhelming. Similar to Navy Sweet (whilch I actually prefer), but the difference is subtle. Satisfying enough to use all day, but the usual care is required in taking it as it is easy to over do it. Good snuff and readily available here in South Carolina.

I do enjoy Railroad Mills Plain Scotch. In fact it is possibly my favourite American scotch snuff. In the past I have been less than keen on the sweet versions of the American scotches so I didn't expect a lot from this one but I was very much mistaken! This one seems rather less sweet than any of the other sweet scotches I have tried and it has the same smoky base as the plain. The net result is really rather good. Sweet enough to be interesting and yet not too sweet as to be cloying. The overall effect is like putting sweet and sour sauce on your barbecued burgers! Like the plain it is fine, dry and very pale in colour and the nicotine level certainly satisfies. Care is needed when using, or you will get snuff at the back of your throat!

Same base tones as the Railroad Scotch but with a sweet tone of molasses. As far as sweet scotches go, I prefer Navy, Tube Rose or Stoker's to this one. But still I do enjoy this one. Just a little too much char to play well with the sweet to earn a 5.

This is a very dry, very fine, pale, tobacco flavored snuff with a sweet tone. This snuff is also very strong as it delivers a satisfactory nicotine kick. Rooster and Navy snuffs are the only American snuffs stronger than this, in my opinion. This snuff can be used nasally or orally like other American snuffs. Caution towards beginners as this snuff is very dry and fine and should be snuffed slowly.
