Wow! like snuffing rich fruitcake! Helps if you pinch the nostrils post sniff to get it all to stay put as it is very coarse! Scent lasts a long while, very sweet. Slight runback, down the back of my nose but is not unpleasant.

The Dopplearoma "D" takes things a step further than the plainer "A". Its quite sweet and rich owing to the double fermentation process. There is a pleasant fruity flavor to it, I agree with others, much like apples and rasins. This is quite a departure from the more maple smokey schmalzlers of Bernard. It is much the same as the "A" but the aroma is much more pronounced. Quite sweet and pleasant. Easy to take for beginners and one can shovel in spoonful after spoonful making the 100g bags quite a bargain. It really gets the nose running as well. Good Bavarian tradtion with a fruity bonus.

The proper name should be Schmalzler D Doppelaroma, the "A" being the Brasil Schmalzler. The name derives from the double fermentation of the tobacco, giving it a splendid richness, which isn´t overpowering at all. It comes in a 100g bag and in 25g refill bags. 100g seem a bit much, but Schmalzer is being taken in larger portions than snuff. And it doesn´t stay in the nose as long, too. So it all makes perfect sense. It´s very dark in colour and pretty moist and it can be quite messy. Back of the hand doesn´t work as good as shoving it up the nose. The flavour is of delicate, rich tobacco with the addition of apple, which gives it a light, mellow sweetness and works extremely well. No comparison to the Südfrucht fruit-bomb. It has a tendency to slightly burn in the nose, but not bad at all. And the scent makes another big leap when blowing it out. The price is highly reasonable! A must try, to say the least.

Schmalzler Doppelaroma D: In appearance, grind and moisture this is the twin of Schmalzler A. However, you notice the difference as soon as you open the pack. The deep and rich sweetish fruitiness hits you long before you get it into your nose and once sniffed, the flavour stays with you for a long time. I get a light apple-like top note with an underlying dark chocolate taste, all presumably resulting from the double fermentation. The one is definitely the dessert and the combination of flavours is excellent!

the "double flavour" is a tradirional schmalzler flavoured with a fruity scent. but no menthol. the underlying schmalzler is mellow and soft but not cigarry. it is quite dark and should be quite nice without any additions. but here they are. it is a strange fruity scent, that reminds me vaguely of raisins and dried apples. not bad.. ..but why? i do not think that those additives are reallt making this snuff better. anyway, itis a good schmalzler, does what it is supposed to do and the flavoung is not repulsive. it might even really be liked by some.
