Yes, I know it's expensive and it can be replicated cheaply with a couple of Gawith snuffs, but I really like it - and I don't even drink coffee!
A very rich, dark flavour to this one, the snuff is almost black, quite moist but easy to take.
Should be tried at least once, just to say you've tried the most expensive snuff in the world!

Cafe Royale is a snuff that in its tradition dates back to pre-revolutionary France. As a historian I love things old, and so I decided to order some of this snuff. It has a reputation which really gave me high expectations. However, I was disappointed somewhat. I must admit that at first pinch I thought I had Schmalzler in my nose! Too sweet, no tobacco scent, almost no nicotine, and way to moist for me! I do like the coffee scent, and as an occasional pinch, it is fine. As a die-hard snob, I also love the fact that I'm pinching something extremely expensive, and I always take care to spill a bit, when pinching. I prefer the more dry snuffs, and quite frankly, I made a coffee snuff myself from Esfahan tobacco, and freshly ground good quality organic coffee, which was quite as good as Cafe Royale! But - the history of this snuff, ensures it a place in my stock.

This was once in the Guiness book of records as the word's most expensive snuff and it has the reputation of being some kind of extraordinary substance. In my view its like the rest of Smith's snuffs - over rated. If you want a coffee snuff go for Toque Espresso - its less expensive and much better.
Don't go out of your way to visit the shop either, what charm it once had has long since gone with the change of owners and it seems to be run now by a bored cockney. You'll get better choice and more courteous service online.

Dark, richly coffee and liqueur scented and flavoured. Medium grind and quite moist. Not to be missed, though perhaps not quite as good as its reputation might suggest.

This is a very coarse and moist snuff, with very dark brown color, almost black. A bit to moist in my opinion for the coffe taste to stick out, otherwise the tobacco taste is fine.
