A Real tobacco snuff! Walnut, tannin, tobacco scents. Easy to snuff nice and soft on the nose. What a great nose feel as it sits lasting quite some time with it's mild aroma. Very clean and not cloying at all. Must try at least one of the Sterneckers or you won't know what you are missing. Not the same as Bernards or Poschl by far.

At the edge of the mysterious Bohemian Forest, beside the mighty Danube River, deep in the heart of Bavaria lies the town of Straubing, home of Germany's smallest and last (to my knowlege) independent snuff maker. To be precice, he only makes schmalzlers, and only three of them. Lets start with the one named for the town. Quite rich and moist, but the richness comes from the strong fermented tobacco. There are no addtional sweeteners as you will find in the more well known schmalzlers. This is schmalzler at its purest form. Quite lovely and refreshingly plain. Sold in large bags only and worth checking out.

Propably the best Schmalzler available these days. Pronounced, rich but gentle Brasil tobacco, just the right strength before becoming overwhelming. You really feel the superb quality of the used tobacco. Produced in small quantities, so quality control is perfectly handled, obviously. Only very slightly fruity, dates most likely. But a strong, delicious walnut flavour. Compared to other Schmalzler, this ain´t so fruity, and that´s quite a welcome change. Who knows how long this gem will remain in production, as it´s a small 1 man company...

Great Schmalzler. Probably my favorite next to Sternecker's Fresko. I prefer Sternecker's grind to Bernard. This one has a fruitier initial scent but quickly subsides to a great tobacco finish.

A nice mild schmalzler, the flavor is gentle and well balanced,it's a medium/coarse grind and somewhat gritty,Im new to the schmalzler world and It seems to me that most have a similar but hard to describe maple taste.Highly recommended

Superb! Has to be the best Schmalzler I've ever sniffed. Mild on the nose, dark, medium coarse and very moist. This is a snuff you can take in quantity.
