Reviews for Wilsons of Sharrow Grand Cairo

Grand Cairo which in some lists is 'Grand Cairo (Red Rappee)' is among Wilson's best offerings. Its quite possibly my personal favorite. It is perhaps not an SP in the strictest sense, but seems to be an extension of the SP style. It is dominated by bergamot as most SPs are, but there is a distinct spicy and zesty sense beyond that. Others suggest many possiblities for these scents: lemon, juniper, lavender, corriander, clove, cardamom. Citron is one I would guess. Probably there is much more, but its very well blended. Only the master blenders at Wilson's know for sure. Its quite rich and strong, but not too much so to be an all day snuff, or at least a half day snuff. The color is indeed somewhat reddish brown (to distinguish it from the Brunswick - Black Rappee, of course) and medium moisture. Great lingering scent. This is one I would like to get in bulk. Outstanding and easily earns 5 stars from me.

This is a pleasant SP variant, with a good dosage of bergamot, lemon zest and some undefinable, but very good floral and spicy notes. A tiny bit exotic for the typical western nose. Very nice dark-red colour and a good refreshing effect. The scent stays a bit longer, than the average Wilson´s, which is a big plus. A good seasonal snuff, but I can´t see myself using this during summer months.

With all the new snuffs which become available these days it's sometime easy to forget old favourites. Grand Cairo is a delicious and complex snuff, reddish brown and easy to snuff with a modest burn. It's an SP, with a predominately bergamot/citrus scent, but has the addition of maybe a whisper of lavender, and some other scent, more vegetable than herb: almost like fennel or celery, perhaps coriander. It's certainly one of the most savoury snuffs in my collection, and when I'm in the mood for it, it's easy to binge on. An interesting and rewarding variant in the millions of SPs out there.

A nice light citrusy SP snuff that is very more-ish. I do get a little bit of burn initially, but that fades quickly and then the wonderful blend of bergamot and citrus comes flooding out. The tobacco base is robust and flavoursome too. I really like mixing this 50/50 with F&T French Carotte.

A reddish brown, quite fine, medium moist SP style snuff. Fluffier and easier to take than other SPs from Wilsons of Sharrow. An aroma of bergamot, lemon zest and cardamom, followed by floral notes and a hint of cloves. The bergamot dominates, whilst the other flavours are subtle and all the better for it. One pinch leads to another without sneezyness or queasyness. A beginners SP snuff. 7/10.

I found this to be an SP with a noticeably clear citrus taste. I also find it flavorful with a single note. It delivers little nose burn and is pleasantly easy to take. It satisfies. I was hoping to find something more exotic in this snuff, maybe some oriental aromatic oils. I did not find them and my biased approach made it unmemorable. I am still happy to have tried it. I can enjoy it more in the summer.

This is another snuff I am revisiting and I must say I am very glad I did revisit this one. It's probably best described as a scented SP. Certainly the base is an SP in terms of flavour (though it is a distinctive red-brown colour) and there are also spicy and floral notes in there. Tasty and satisfying with a pleasant burn.

Pleasant surprise of a very complex blend of flavors. For me I always get the slight citrus tone initially followed by a pine or juniper aroma. This one actually makes my mouth water and I find myself craving it on occasions. It is a heavy experience tho so I don't see myself using it all day. But boy, I sure am glad to have some on hand. A nice addition from Wilson's Wonka factory of snuff.

This looks a bit like smoked paprika in colour and I find it to be quite penetrating and strong to take and the flavour is a full on blast of bergamot. I would maybe use this as a desert snuff but one of those that would only ever be an occasional pinch. Serious snuffers of old tended to have daily roations to suit occasions throughout the day and I think this would work best as an after dinner pick-me-up or with a rich arrabica at breakfast.

Nice and pleasantly scented. Both the above reviewers have it correct, it's bergamot. (checked by opening a Earl Grey tea packet)

It has a velvety smooth feel, easy to take but if used continuously throughout the day it tended to irritate the back of my nose. The scent reminds me most of Jockey Club with a lot of Bergamot added. Its not an every day snuff for me but one I will pinch from on occasion.

Red Rapee! Dark red color, Nice and smooth grind. Exotic cardamom flavor. I don't know if there really is cardamom in it but the flavor is reminiscent. It may just be bergamot. This snuff goes well with a strong cup of coffee. I'll have to see how this stuff smokes in my hookah for the full Arabic experience. Highly recommended snuff!
