This is a top notch Scotch Snuff. I will compare with other non-sweet Scotch snuffs I have tried. Its stronger than Navy and Railroad Mills and without the slighltly cloying sweetness those two have. Its smokey, but less so than Ralph's but while being stronger in flavor and strength. It does not have the sour notes found in the US Smokeless scotches, but does have a hint of unique flavor. Wood notes, perhaps? The only one from Swisher that seems stronger is Square, but this one has a better flavor.

Three Thistles Strong Scotch -> This is clearly the better Rooster imo. Medium smokieness and mild BBQ flavour, easier to take, more pleasent and still very satisfying nic hit. Well, the flavour´s potent, but doesn´t get annoying in long time use. To sniff it doesn´t require as much caution as with the Rooster, as well. In my Top 3 US scotches list and a rebuy.

The strength of Rooster without the over done smokiness. Mind you, smokiness is not toastiness. There does seem to be some mildly sweet floral scent but this is most definitely not a "sweet". Comparing to other dry scotches I would say that unless you are already a fan of the type, it is not different enough to turn your favor. If you are a fan, this is one good snuff and a must have. Strong yet mild.

This is probably the best Strong Scotch snuff in my collection. It has the best smoky/BBQ flavor to it. The flavor isn't that strong, but it's very good. A big pinch of this will definitely get you going, and if you sniff a bit too hard it will feel as if someone is poking your brain.

First, let me say I am used to moist snuff. Princess dark, Special, etc Also, I am trying to quit the cigs. That being said this is wonderful. A bit sharp at first snuff. the boquet is small and earthy. However, no throat residual. And the nicotine is just right, After the first pinch, I feel it melting into the nasal membranes. I love this stuff
period.

Not being a fan of Swisher's smoking products, I've been pleasantly surprised with their snuff selections. Their Three Thistle Strong is another American Scotch that's become a quick favorite of mine rivaling Rooster in all around appeal, particularly strength. This one has a subtle smokiness to it with an added dimension that nudges Levi for depth of flavor. Another fine and dry snuff that can have you regretting your decision when care isn't taken but the smooth reward and toasty mellow finish is well worth the effort. TTS and Square have Swisher vying for the top of the pack in American Scotches and an almost perfect four and a half heaping snootfulls.

Historically American scotch snuffs fall into one of three categories - strong, sweet and plain. This one is definitely a strong one as the full name suggests (Three Thistles Strong Scotch Snuff).
It's very fine and dry as one would expect and fairly light in colour. The smokiness is somewhat less than is to be found in some other scotch snuffs but this is more than made up for by the high nicotine level and the pure tobacco flavour. First rate snuff!

I have only had this for a couple days, but am very impressed. The full name of the product is Three Thistles Strong Snuff. And strong it is! To my nose there is nothing sweet about it. It's got a dry smokey hickory, flavor. Light brown color, and similar in many respects to Levi Garrett Scotch and Rapee. A full fledged American Scotch with above average strength. Very satisfying.
