This one seems to have a grittier texture to it than the other Pöschl Schmalzlers, it seems dryer too. Its almost like an oily sand. The flavor is apart from the others as well. This has some smokey tones like many of the Bernard and Sternecker schmalzlers. This has some nut and wood-like flavor deep within. It still has a modicum of the same sweet fruit flavor, but by far the most subtle one in sweetness from Pöschl, even more so than the Schmalzler "A". This one probably will not become my favorite, but its surely going to be someone's. Can be used in large doses, but sure to cause a lot of discharge. Now I know why Bavarian handkerchiefs are so large. Perlesreut, I have learned is a small town on the edge of Bavaria, deep in the Bohemian Forest region. Now the term "Walder" makes sense as well.

Dark and a medium to coarse grind. Smells of tobacco and some fermented, fruit-like smells. Overall, it's quite pleasant and easy to take loads of the stuff. I do dock a point for the greasiness. It's just so, so oily, it's a little gross. Still, once it's up my nose, I don't care, and that probably helps keep it fresh anywise.

Comes in a golden 100g bag, very fitting for this excellent Schmalzler. Why 100g? It becomes very obvious when you start using it, you shove it up in big portions and there´s no stopping in sight. Nearly a shame, that there are so many brilliant Schmalzler around, hard to do them all justice. Well, I´d say the Perlesreuter plays in the same league as the Bernard Brasil Doppelt Fermentiert, or the Sternecker Straubinger Schmalzler. Splendid brasil tobacco, medium to slightly coarse in grind, moist but not too moist, quite easy to take for a Schmalzler! Very delicate flavour in there reminding of strong coffee and slightly of cocoa. Veeeery deep flavour, but absolutely not overwhelming, rather cheering up and warming, comforting.

My favourite Pöschl Schmalzler.Medium grinded and very moist. The maintopping is a dominant coffee-smell with earthyness and leather. All this packed into a light sweet brasilflavour. 6 Stars worth!

This is my favorite Poschl so far. It is not nauseatingly over-sweet as some of their other scents. Clean and straight forward scent of tobacco. It is a little expensive, but worthwhile having.

Dark, coarse and smoky, not as moist as the Sternecker Schmalzlers but just as great in its own way.
