In direct comparison with the Wilson´s version of this snuff, the Frederick Tranter is a bit lighter, but by no means worse. It´s not as sharp, salty at the first impression upon sniffing, but much more balanced. For me, this is a more mature version of the #22. Relatively easy to take, with some experience and caution. Slightly moister than the Wilson´s. Wonderful nutty, smooth flavour. Very toasty and honest tobacco flavour. I wouldn´t prefer one #22 over the other.

I don't think there is a lot I can add to the description of this snuff but I will say it's a very good example of an Irish high toast. It's light brown, fine, fluffy and dry, yet surprisingly easy to take. The flavour, which wonderfully nutty and smoky, is stronger than either the Wilson's No. 22 or the F&T HDT. Definitely on the "must have" list.

A good toast with a nice nutty flavour. IMO opinion Tranters snuff can vary from mundane to excellent and this is one of their most distinctive. Apparently made by Wilsons of Sharrow these days, and it would appeal to Wilsons fans

#22 is a dry fine snuff. Light brown in color. This snuff has a very enjoyable creamy light nut scent with a good tone of smoke to back it up. I really enjoy this one but I tend to forget about it until I sift through my collection. Then I take a snuff and don't know why I forget about it. Its nice tasty snuff.
