To me this is the best plain scotch snuff around. I find it the mildest of all the scotches in flavor. I would have to disagree with some of my esteemed colleuges that this is in the extra fine/very dry class. I find it to be simply fine/dry and most like Starr (rather than Navy). Starr is the only one that is easier to take, but this one beats that in simple good plain tobacco flavor. Its has a good wood/grass flavor and no smoke at all. I suppose its still correct to class this as a scotch, but nowhere on the package or in the catalog does it call itself one. It certainly has no "scorched" character. Just a good plain snuff. As mentioned below, its not easy to get. Its only sold through the catalog and then only in 2 pound tubs. The website below is dead. Call 1-800-243-9377 if you are in the US. I'll be stocking up myself, soon. I might get the sweet snuff as well!

Buff brown, bone dry and very finely ground. This is the first American snuff I've tried, and it reminds me of my own milled Drum RYO tobacco. The aroma is intense, fire-cured tobacco, and nothing else. As good as it is, the dryness and fineness of the snuff is too extreme for me, and the sinus drip is bitter to the point of being unpleasant. 5/10.

This is a very well done scotch snuff. The flavor is very well balanced, and perhaps a bit more complex than others. If I liked these types of snuffs a bit more I would have to give it the fifth star, but scotch snuffs aren't my favorites. I would love to try the sweet as I enjoy them more than the plain.

A very good example of a well made scotch. Not quite as dry or fine as W.E Garrett and not quite as strong on the smokiness/BBQ factor. Very easy to take for a Scotch. If ever the chance to sample presents itself. Do yourself a favor and take a pinch...

I owe thanks to Mark in Florida for getting the chance to try this snuff, as Fred Stoker doesn't ship outside the United States, and more's the pity! Stoker's Plain has everything I would expect from an American plain scotch snuff. It's fine to the point of powder and dry as something very dry indeed.... The smokiness I've come to expect from scotch snuffs is somewhat muted but tasty anyway and lingers nicely. The overall effect is very smooth and satisfying and it is certainly easier to take than some American scotches. Highly recommended!

My first foray into US snuff, dusty, fine and not really like anything else I've tried. I would say if you like toasts then this is something you might like. The fineness of the mill can catch you unawares and hit you at the back of throat but once you get a bit more gentle with the technique you start to realise what a good snuff this is.

This is a dry fine snuff that comes in a 2 lb. tub available through Fred Stoker & Sons catalog. You can request this catalog which is full of great tobacco product here at http://www.fredstokerandsons.com/ This snuff does have some similarities with Navy if your familiar with that one. Its similar in both color and texture. The taste is similar to Navy but the Stoker's seems to be a little cleaner & smoother, very easy on the nose. Definitely higher quality. Its not a huge difference but enough to notice. This would be considered mild on the BBQ/smoke scent. This one is always in my daily rotation & can be enjoyed all day. Can be enjoyed both nasally & orally. Excellent quality snuff and I'm very glad I made the purchase. Each 2-pound tub is equivalent to 27.82 or the 1.15 oz American snuff cans. So basically your paying $1.18 per can. This is an excellent choice if you do enjoy American snuffs.
