The label says "American Line" I don't get that. I haven't seen any others as yet with this label. I'm neither an anise or menthol lover, so keep that in mind when reading my review. I do like both in certain doses or situations, though. The closest thing on the market that I can think of would be Wilson's Aniseed Extra which has way too much menthol for me. This one the menthol is not overdone, and has that nice Indian way of using menthol as an enhancement tool. The anise in this though, I find somewhat subpar when compared to other anise snuffs. It tastes somewhat fake and seems to have been sweetened. It also fades very quickly. The base snuff is typical of many of the newer Dholakia styles, which while good can give a little harsh throat drip. If you, like me, prefer no menthol and a better anise flavor, get McChrystal's or Toque.

One of the best Dholakias. The amount of aniseed and menthol is very reasonable, so the blend with the wonderful base tobacco is just wonderful. The menthol dosage here is really something others should try to recreate, it´s an flavour enhancer instead of a spoiler. Maybe the aniseed could be a bit stronger, like in the Ozona President, but that way there´s the great balance with the tobacco, so there´s a chance it´s best just like it is. And indeed, it does taste great and lasts a good time.

This is very good. Medium-fine grind, and a medium moisture content, its natural aniseed flavor reminds me of the anise-candy my grandmother made every Christmas, and the menthol is added lovingly, invoking a feeling of a cool, winter morning (not a frigid blizzard.) Other companies need to learn how to medicate their snuff like Dholakia. It seems to satisfy my nic cravings, and I speculate that the nicotine content is medium-high. One of the few menthols I intend to keep around. I will agree, that Aniseed isn't exactly an American flavor, but what the heck.

I normally can't stand anything with licorice or aniseed, but this stuff is really amazing. It has just the right amount of aniseed and just enough menthol to open up the sinuses. It has a very refreshing, fresh scent and its a nice one just to sit back, relax, and enjoy.

I was a big fan of Wilson's aniseed a couple of years ago. It was my everyday snuff as a matter of fact. Hence I was quite excited to try the Dholakia Aniseed. I did so over a year ago, but picked it up again yesterday, which has inspired this review. Although I have been off menthols of late, this was a great blast from the past, so to speak. Good strong sinus clearing menthol and nice long lasting aniseed. Very nice.

Medium brown, fine grind. Not too strong on the menthol and with a pleasant lingering aniseed taste. I'm not a fan of menthol, hence only three stars.

I don't get this being an American line snuff. Aniseed is most definitely not an American flavor nor is menthol for snuff. I do like aniseed and licorice. I would like to see a fennel snuff. I love menthol snuffs too. This snuff misses the mark in my opinion. It has too little menthol and too soft an anise. The tobacco however is a winner. It has the exotic signature of Dholakia. Honestly I have yet to decant this snuff so my review will need to be edited once that happens.

As troutstroker mentions, this snuff treads a fine line between being over and under mentholated. The aniseed in particular is perfectly proportioned, and although finely ground there is a slight moisture which makes this snuff easy to take.
Excellent for beginners who sometimes need a little menthol, but also a good choice for the more seasoned snuffer - I could happily take this one all day. Dholakia deserve recent plaudits on this site.

Skillfully blended as many of Dholakia snuffs are. Neither the aniseed or menthol is obtrusive, and the whole makes a perfect package. Even for those who are not too keen on either aniseed or menthol may find this blend a 'want to try again' snuff. For myself I could happily use this snuff through the day.

Upon opening my package I was impressed with the hand stiched fabric that wrapped my goods, which I still use to carry my Dholakia snuff in now. When I opened the Aniseed Menthol variety I was pleased with the smell of licorice, not knowing what aniseed was, I learned that it was closely related to parsley and is a herb used commonly in some parts of the world. After snuffing it, my nose felt clean and fresh, with a scent that lasted for a decent amount of time. I usually feel the nicotine hit me behind my ears, in the back of my head, sometimes way too strong sometimes not enough. With the Aniseed Menthol, the feeling was just right. I got just enough nicotine with just enough flavor.
The menthol flavor lasts a bit longer than the aniseed, which is okay, since the menthol makes the nasal area feel fresh and clean. This snuff is not too much at first and it doesn't wear off too fast. I have tried other Dholakia Snuffs, which I also like, that made me fall over when I first try them because of the intense flavoring. This one hits you just right and fades slowly. I would recommend this snuff for the experienced or beginner due to the fact that it has a kick, yet it wont knock you off of your feet.
A pat on the back to Dholakia for making a snuff that I can enjoy when I need a freshening hit with a kick!

This is my second fav from dholakia. It is medium light in color and a fine grind with medium moisture and a modest nicotine hit. It has a wonderful anise tang that is well balanced with the menthol. A great breakfast snuff as it lends itself nicely to coffee and opens up sinuses at the same time. Probably good for dessert as well, even without any cake.

This is a clean and refreshing snuff that clears the head and gives a pleasant and invigorating lift. In the background is the usual, unique Dholakia flavour that seems to characterise the entire range - a subtle and quite delicious aroma that I now associate as the Dholakia signature. The body is quite fine and dry and the snuff has a gentle but noticeable nicotine content. The beauty of this snuff however is the superbly mild aniseed flavour combined with a well balanced leavening of menthol which, like the other menthols in the new range, has been added with an expert touch. This has the effect of allowing the base tobacco flavour to come through, something many rival companies seem unable to do. A wonderful snuff to use in the morning and the perfect accompaniment to your breakfast tea or coffee. Simply outstanding.

Dholakia has a very nice touch when it comes to flavoring of their snuffs. Most aniseed snuffs are either too heavy with the menthol or the aniseed is much too strong. This one is a nice balance of both, the aniseed is light and the menthol is just enough. Nice relaxing cooling effect, it is very smooth and easy on the nose. I have been going back to this one all day, another nice addition to Dholakia snuffs.

I’ve never been a fan of aniseed, but in the certain company it is usually used after dinner as a breath freshener. You would never catch me buying aniseed in the store for cooking. So I really was not looking forward to trying this particular snuff. Then I figured what the heck! I haven’t done bad yet trying the different snuff flavors by Dholakia. I’m glad I did, to my surprise it’s a really nice snuff with a mild menthol to be savored. The snuff is made with a very fine ground quality tobacco. I would encourage aniseed lovers to give this snuff a try. For people like me that are not found of aniseed you could be in for a wonderful surprise.

Reminds me of a good and plenty. The menthol is not really anywhere near the fore-front of this snuff. The scent is of aniseed is mild enough to be non-offensive yet strong enough to be delcious to aniseed lover like myself. The menthol as I said is very mild just enough to tickle your nose a little but mainly to add a touch of sweetness to the aniseed and oddly smooth it out a touch. Like the other dhikola snuffs I've tried it seems to have an almost perfumy undertone that is extremely plesant unlike packards club.

A very nice aniseed snuff with a light dose of menthol.Dholakia really knows how to do a menthol, just enough to satisfy and not over power. The nicotine hit seems pretty good on this one,and like the esteemed Troutstroker says it really satisfies.Large pinches are enjoyable and the medium fine grind will seldom hit your throat, another positive about Dholakia is the menthol doesnt clog me up.Highly recommended

This snuff is a fine grind almost a light medium grind. It is very lightly moist with a medium brown color. On first sniff I noticed it was pretty easy to take & fairly gentle on the nose considering its a menthol snuff. The aniseed is well detected. Its a nice tasty clean aniseed scent, not too strong not too light. The menthol note is about medium medium-light in strength. Just enough to know its there with a little bite without being over done which I was glad about. I saw menthol on the label and was afraid it was going to be eye watering, nose freezing strong. But it wasn't. The menthol fades down pretty quickly and your left with a nice aniseed tone that hangs around for quite some time. The nicotine content does seem pretty decent as it does seem to satisfy. I would like to see a non-mentholated snuff in this American line. To sum things up, this is a finer grind snuff that is easy to sniff and has a nice lingering aniseed scent with a touch of menthol. If you enjoy the scent of aniseed and the cooling effect of menthol, you should definitely give this one a shot. This one only got a 4 because I'm not the biggest fan of menthol. Otherwise it would be a 5 because it is a tasty snuff.
