Reviews for McChrystals Clove

The clove is kind of a novelty in my opinion it is good but its not every day kind of good. Personally I think it is too much cloves it burns a lot and is monotone in the nose, sorta reccomendable after the collection has grown but not a blend I would miss if it was discontinued. I kinda think it is clogging too only one pinch today and i thought about waiting til tommorow for another pinch of anything but I had some A/P that changed my mind.

I don't give out 5 star ratings lightly, but this snuff is fantastic. After reading the other reviews, it seems to be a love it or hate it kind of snuff. This clove scent is the most potent and stinging, burning punch you will ever experience in a spiced snuff. I do not recommend this for the faint of heart or for beginners. Also understand that you need to like clove to like this. I owe a debt of gratitude to my friends at snuffhouse for introducing me to this one. Nice nicotine hit too.

I'm giving this one two stars mostly because of how difficult I find to take it. It has a lovely, pungent clove scent to it, but unless I take it after having used several other snuffs, it simply flies up my nose and heads directly for my throat. Sneeze and cough inducing almost every time for me. Still, for those times where it stays up in the front of my nose, I'd give it four stars. Very strong scent, and long lasting. All the same, it gives me too much trouble using this one for me to really love it. If you have the technique down, this would be delightful, but I wouldn't recommend this to too many beginners (which is just what I did, buying this on my first order).

Ooh Lordy - the cloves, the CLOVES!!! It is snuff. It tastes like cloves. In fact it tastes like every single clove in the whole world has just shot up your nose. It burns, it stings, the flavour is relentless. I really like it, but couldn't do it all day. By the way, don't put it anywhere near your other snuffs, especially delicately scented ones, as it will stretch out its clovey tentacles and bludgeon any weaker scents into submission.

I have no idea how I have not reviewed this stuff until now. This is my all time favorite snuff. Occasionally there will be a snuff I like a bit more, but it's always temporary. McChrystal's Clove is not for the weak nosed snuffer. It packs a burn that you won't find in any other snuff, and will open your nose quite well. I can almost feel all my blood vessels open a bit when I fill my nose. You can fell the anesthetic properties of the cloves in your nose, as it gives a bit of a numbness after the burn subsides. For the more adventurous snuffer, you can add a bit of a strong menthol to it and really blow your head off. I LOVE THIS SNUFF!!!

Gets a 5 from me because of its unique abilities. However, this is a no-nonsense clove oriented snuff. Its almost like sniffing pure clove powder. Don't even think about detecting base tobacco undertones. If you want a hard hitting clove experience then nothing will compare to this one. In fact, with anything more than a modest pinch it transforms into a metallic/cinnamon burn. Clove lovers will love this but it may be too much for the average person. Its not slight or subtle at all. One of the few non-mentholated snuffs that still manages to satisfy the masichistic urge to burn and cause tearing. If one is really brave, try mixing this half and half with Hedges L260. In any case, worth trying at least once for the unique experience. Forget the breath mints, take a few shots of this and you will permeate any crowded elevator with the scent of clove spices.

I guess it's only fair to include negative reviews as well as positive. Unfortunately, for me, this one can only be a negative. While I can cope with cloves in small quantities, the impact of the cloves in this snuff is simply too overpowering for me. It reminds me too much of visits to the dentist!

Discernable clove flavour and medium nicotine hit and noseburn. An 'occasional', in the same way that clove cogarettes would be.

Well, it talks the talk and walks the walk. It' smell just like it says and it is prolly one of my favorite snuffs, tied with toque blueberry.

Medium brown, moderate nicotine, fine and dry, and spills out of a silly little "minor" tin all too easily. Small pinches are required, because this snuff feels hot and spicy in the nose, and has a pungent, perhaps overpowering, clove flavour. It feels natural and not too sweet, but it just doesn't do much for me. It is expensive as well. You'd be better off buying a larger tin of plain snuff and flavouring it with cloves (if you really want to), because that's all it is. Not impressed. One for blending.

This one I think is totally fantastic. Remember those clove flavored candies your grandmother used to have at Christmas time? Well, I do too thanks to Ian McChrystal and Co. I found this to have a little menthol and is best used in smaller increments. I'm not sure if I will be purchasing this one in my next few orders but it will forever live in the archives of my mind. Definitely for sure worth the $$ although I'm going to guess that all the McChrystals products are quite worthy. My hat is certainly off to this English, candylike clove sensation! 4.4 refreshed nostrils

Monochromatic clove flavor. Pleasant. My first non-medicated (menthol) snuff. I have to take it very carefully to enjoy most.

I love the clove scent on this. It lasts a long time and complements the tobacco very well. Easy to snuff for a fine and dry grind.
