Reviews for Toque Whisky & Honey

This is a top 3 snuff for me. A small pinch yields me a pleasant honey/smoke scent, while a bigger pinch or 2 small ones in each nostril starts to bring out the whiskey (almost like a mossy single malt scotch- which i love). Also when I'm out in the sun and the wind hits me its almost like i can smell someone smoking a Cavendish pipe tobacco, very nice. So if you aren't getting the whiskey try a bigger pinch. Its fairly easy to take, not so much as some of the fruity toque's but easier for me than Quit for instance. The flavor lasts a LONG time. One of the best products Toque carries. I suggest buying this in bulk.

This snuff has certainly been well reviewed, but I write to remember my own thoughts too. Its a toast, so be aware that its fine and dry. Its not as dry as many toasts though, but it can still burn. First I get sweetness and a strong toast character. This is immediently followed by a peaty scotch whisky scent. It really kind of bounces between "scotch" and "butterscotch" due to the sweetness. I add a few more pinches over the course of a few minutes and really build up its character. The good malty scents really take shape and then the vague sweetness gradually reveals that it is distinctly honey. (If you couldn't guess from reading the tin). As it fades you are left with a residual malty-peaty sweetness. Really well done. I strongly advise a good airing off the ammonia of this when buying a new tin. I hated this for about a month until mine aired out on its own. It also smells much different in the nose than out.

I purchased a tin of W&H almost a year ago, when I was just starting snuff. Needless to say, I learned to be afraid of this one, as I didn't understand that it was a toast- every time I'd try to sniff it, it would just go straight back into my throat and I'd have a sneezing fit. I started revisiting it about a month ago when I started figuring out 'how to sniff it', and now keep a bullet with it on my person. It's nice and fine with a soft/powdery consistency, dry, but not parched. I've noticed that this snuff in particular seems to clump together on itself, forming little nuggets in the tin. This isn't too big of a problem, as they smooth back out with a little finger-magic, but it can be a little annoying when it comes to sniffing it from a bullet: the crumbs that form inside of the bullet are too heavy to sniff easily, and they tend to fall right back out of the nose just as quickly as they've been huffed. As for the flavor/scent, it's DELICIOUS. It has a soft powdery sweetness to it that is round and balanced, with a twang of smoke on a backdrop of tasty smooth tobacco. The smell of this is very reminiscent of a graham cracker! Unfortunately, I've found that it tends to 'turn' in the nose if you leave it unblown for too long(about an hour or two later, or if you fall asleep with it in there), curdling into a somewhat sour nose-funk.

Nice Snuff. If you take WOS HDT #22 and take away the smoke flavour and add a touch of honey, you have Toque Whiskey and Honey. Since I am a fan of toasts, this is right up my alley. I can't smell the whiskey, but I will keep trying.

I love this one. It is so smooth and silky, rich warm, golden scents of honey and whiskey. I would like more whiskey, but hey. The only problem is that once I start, I want to take more and more, bigger and bigger pinches, and then I invariably get clogged up.

This is my favorite snuff I have tried so far. I am new to the world of snuff but of the 11 I have tried this is one that I enjoy the most. A fine grind medium dark snuff that is easy to take if sniffed gently. It leaves a sweet honey flavor that lasts quite a while then fades away to a nice tobacco flavor. very gentile on my nose. I highly recommend this one!

As I've mentioned in my other reviews, I am not a big fan of Toasts. That being said, there are two Toque Toast's that are an exception for me: Marmalade and Whisky & Honey. Since I love fruit flavored snuffs, it was not a surprise that I liked Roderick's Marmalade. But Whisky & Honey? No, never! Well, I was wrong. Roderick has worked magic with this blend. There is no smoke or BBQ flavor as one may expect. It is truly a unique work of art. It is long lasting and layered. By that I mean the Whisky and Honey don't come on together but linger in separate levels of enjoyment. For me, the Honey flavor lasts the longest. My parting thoughts- for someone like me that is not a big fan of Toast's, I ALWAYS keep a bullet of this on hand. That should tell you something! :>)

Got this as a free sample with my order from Nicotine Rush. God Bless 'em!! I really love this wonderful toast. Aroma from the smash box didn't exactly thrill me, but in the nose the slight whisky and more prominent honey really take off. Talk about nailing the description of the blend! I was kind of wary of Toque being a relative newbie in the field, but they made this stuff like hundred year old vets. Everyone who goes for the toasted snuffs whether American kind or classic F&T and Wilson's should definitely try this. Excellent. I'm gonna order a tin or two.

This has become one of my favorite Toque products. Fantastic long lasting taste, easy to take, and a nice nic bump. As a bouns I will on occassion sprinkle a touch in my snus to add a sweet flavor twist. The honey REALLY comes out then. This is one I would advise for any collection.

This is another great tasting toast snuff. It is enjoyable enough to use everyday. I have bought this flavor in bulk. Toque has done it again. It is a nice toast flavor with a great easy to take tobacco base.

My first impressions: Wow! Such a powerful aroma from the tin; sweet, creamy and rich at the same time - like powdered butterscotch toffee - but so strong as to be rather challenging. The first few sniffs took me by surprise: I was treating this with the caution that a toast deserves (I'm a newbie sniffer with an untuned nose) but still the heat from the fine-grind was a shock. After a half-dozen thoughtful snorts though, I was starting to appreciate the delightful modulation between the sweet-honey opening and the more lasting peat-smoke and spirit notes that followed. Now - two days after the first snootful - it has shot straight to the top of my nasal hit parade: now it's an invigorating initial burn, a wondrous, swooning nicotine bear-hug followed by an extraordinarily pleasing modulation between the sweet and the smoky. Just delicious!

This rivals the mighty F&T HDT for best Toast in the world, in my opinion. Despite being the newest snuff company out of the blocks, Toque produce snuffs that taste as if they have been produced for a hundred years. A very subtle whisky flavour with a hint of honey sweetness that feels great in the nose. Can't really add to the other reviews except to say try it - you won't be disappointed.

This is a very nice flavored toast snuff. It is surprisingly easy to take too. Most snuffs of this grind are hard to sniff correctly, but not W&H. The Honey flavor is much more pronounced than the Whisky, but the two compliment each other quite nicely. One of my favorites from Toque.

Amazing snuff. When I first take it what hits me is the smell of honey. Which tones down after a short while leaveing me with a wonderfull peaty whiskey scent. This scent also morphs just slightly very similar to rolling whiskey on ones tongue. Though one of my favorite things about this snuff is the grind not just that it's very fine but that it's also very velvety. much more so then any other toast I've tried. It also is somehow slightly easier to take then other toasts. The tobacoo scent that is there is very subtle and similar to hdt and extremely well played with the added scents i.e. extremely comlementary. I can tell that toque is very carefull in selecting the proper tobacco for the scent, the only other company I feel is so talented with this tobacco scent pairing would be dholakia. This is a must try.

Pale brown, fine to very fine ground, and medium dry with a slight fluffiness, and very easy to take, even for a beginner. Initial honey aroma, with toasted biscuits, very noticeable oak, vanilla, and whisky (reminds me of a Speyside malt like Glenlivet), followed by a further hit of honey. Does not have the smoke found in Toque Bourbon or the fudgey, caramel of Wilsons of Sharrow Irish Toast 22. An evening treat. Masterpiece.

I like this one alot it is similar to the toque bourbon with a little less smoke and a quite a bit more sweetness, it also reminds me of a way mellowed down american type sweet scotch but with the grind being more "fluffy" and therefore more comfortable in the nose. I enjoy the flavor of the "drainage" from this one as well it being slightly sweet maybe a quarter of the drip flavor as say, honeybee.

This snuff is exquisite. It's got a nice toasty scent that isn't overpowering at first. After a few moments you notice the lightly honey sweetened whiskey. In about 20 minutes the honey tones really come out stronger. It's like having honey smeared all over a piece of toast and washing it down with a shot of whiskey. It's so dang good, you just don't want to hardly try anything else. This is definitely going to be a regular for me. Also, this snuff is much easier to take than other toasts as far as I can tell.

Just like the Marmalade, this is a beautiful example of a flavored toast. This is a floury grind, dry snuff. The snuff has a great beginning tone of a smokey peat scotch & toasty goodness. This is soon met with a soft sweetness of honey that stays through the end. This snuff is very easy to take despite its fine grind. Its a very enjoyable all day every day snuff that really satisfies.

There has never been a HDT like this before. Like DHOLAKIA Swiss Chocolate, W&H is unique in flavour. Easy to take if you are use to HDT, aroma lingers for a long time. I always take more than I entended to. The smell is so deliciously sweet but the tobacco flavour is there. After a while, the sweetness recedes and leaves the wonderful pure tobacco smell in one's nose. This is not a beginners snuff.

Toasted snuffs date back to the early days of snuffing and there are several vesrions of how they came into being - I like the story of the Dublin snuff maker Lundy Foot, who leaving his assistant to dry the tobacco, turned up the next day to find a liberal dose of Potcheen had caused the assistant to let it 'overcook'. Initially selling the resulting snuff off cheap he was surprised to find it a great success. Toque had a great deal of snuffing experience to overcome from the other makers when the company first entered the market and possibly a more cautious firm would have left this most specialised of snuffs well alone. Not Toque, they went for it and produced a couple of the most startling toasts to emerge in what, a hundred years or so? The marmalade is superb, the whisky and honey a triumph. Sweet, strong, penetrating - a snuffers snuff to be savoured by the experienced nose. This is no beginners 'candy', but a deeply satisfying snuff that builds on the great toast tradition. It is certainly a tribute to the blender when I say that I detect echos of Wilsons, Gawith and even Stokers but a greater one when I say that this is pure Toque.

A sweet toast with a mellow whisky character. The honey sweetness makes it very easy to take and lasts a long time. This is exactly what I wanted in a snuff to mix with those delicious Toque fruit flavors.

Unbelievable snuff! I've never used snuff that last this long. Very enjoyable flavour, it reminds me of old-time finnish sauna and I wasn't the only one.

I must admit that my first sniff reminded me of walking into an old-fashioned shoe shop - leather! Then after a few more explorations this was Islay malt whisky which I remember drinking several years ago. When reading about Islay malts once, it said that it 'slams doors and shuts windows', which this snuff certainly does. I can hardly leave it alone now. and another order is a priority. Some Islay malts can taste medicinal with strong iodine flavour (Laphraoig?), but this is not one of them. I have not yet seen a review by our snuff guru Troutstroker, but perhaps he has not yet come across its delights!

This may well be the best toast produced today. In some ways it even surpasses my previous favorite, F&T's HDT. Whereas HDT has a very uniform and extremely clean flavor, this snuff has an amazing two stage taste. I find it easy to take although it's still a toast, so be a bit careful. At the pinch, it's all single malt. A clear, fresh whisky taste comes through as if you just had a shot of a really good single malt. After the blow I get a distinct taste of chocolate that lasts nicely. I don't think this snuff can be rated highly enough. Absolutely extraordinary and unique. 5 stars to this snuff and to Roderick at Toque for coming up with fantastic snuff.

Oops, hadn't logged on when I did this one: Being fairly new to snuffing I have only sampled about 20 or so varieties, most of them being Toque, and have enjoyed nearly every one. Whisky & Honey though really stands head and shoulders above the crowd for me. This snuff really satisfies and is thus far one of the few that is able to delay a cigarette craving for me. Beyond the nicotine though is the flavor which I find to be an almost perfect compromise between flavorings and tobacco. Again I'm a newbie, but will be buying more of this one for sure and have most likely found a longtime staple early in the game.

This is a very nice snuff. Easy to take for a toast, not so loosely dusty. I know I'll be in trouble if clouds of dust rise when I open a tin. Not the case with this one. The flavor is very nice, and stays a while. It's toasty, kind of sweet, gives me a very warm feeling- I anticipate enjoying this even more in the winter. Nicotine medium-high. I think I'll be reaching for this more and more.

I don't enjoy the smell from the snuff box, but once it's in the nose, it's very nice. I love toasts and this just adds a lot of character that doesn't detract from the toast at all.

I think I've fallen in love..... I used to think that Wilson's IHT No 22 and Sam Gawith's Irish D Light were the pinnacle of the High Dry Toast style of snuff (though I could never decide which of those I preferred). I was wrong. This just pips the pair of them, partly because I find it slightly easier to take (marginally moister) and partly because the flavour is simply so good, from the initial warmth of the honey through the depth of the whisky to the final delicous smokiness of the toasted tobacco. Not only all that but the flavour is long-lasting too. Possibly the only downside for me is that my first tin of this turned out to be the old style screw-top tin, so I must remember to tap it before opening!
