Reviews for US Smokeless Tobacco De Voe Sweet

The sweet scotches from USST seem to bear a close resemblance to one another, which is also distinct from the sweet scotches from other companies. They carry with them the smokiness of the strong scotches along with some moderate barbecue tones and the slightly sour taste of the strong scotches from this company. In short, you can easily identify a snuff from USST in a blind test. This one is less sweet than Carhart's Choice (I have not tried Red Seal). It seems to have a bit more caramel flavor, despite being less sweet. Its nicotine is quite formidable for a sweet scotch, but not unsurprising as high nicotine is also a characteristic of this company. Its rather pale in color, but slightly reddish. If the Swisher ones seem all too similar for you, try this one or CC. The acrid taste makes them stand apart. This snuff has seemingly been discontinued, so grab them up while they last if you want to ever try it.

Not too unlike the Red Seal sweet scotch, this one ain´t too sweet or smoky, but it is a bit more edgey and by far not as easy to take. Maybe the palest scotch I´ve come across. The tobacco´s also not as tasty as in the Red Seal. Not really bad, but none I´d run after either.

This is my all time favorite sweet scotch, it is extremely fine, dry and hard to take. The aformentioned factors don't bother me much though! It has a sweet honey like taste to it, although not as much as honey-bee, I can also pick up some BBQ notes although that doesn't come through as strongly. Has high nicotine and is a lot lighter coloured than most american snuffs.

I admit to not being a huge fan of American sweet snuffs, but this one is quite different from the rest. It has a unique sweet and subtle smoky scent that is neither cloying nor clogging. For a fine, dry snuff, this one is fairly easy to take. If you are like me and haven't really found an American sweet scotch that you REALLY like, give this one a whirl. It is definitely in a class of its own and has become a favorite of mine.

De Voe Sweet strikes me as equally sweet and smoky. Unlike other sweet scotches I don't find the sweetness cloying and the smokiness is certainly satisfying. The snuff is pale, fine and dry and quite powerful in nicotine. I'd probably give this one three and a half stars if it were possible!
