The Tops Mild really has a very mild and "clean" flavour to it, that is somehow unique for a Scotch. No smokieness to it at all. It´s pure tobacco which seems to have seen a slight toasting process. Indeed, this scotch is the closest cousin of any of the Irish Toasts out there. But in comparison, it´s clearly rougher than an Irish Toast. Really very easy and tempting to take one pinch after another. The nicotine content doesn´t seem to be as high, as in most other Scotch Snuffs, as it takes a while and several pinches until you notice it.

My first scotch snuff. I enjoy it alot, and can see why people describe the taste as BBQ. It is very smooth, the only downside is that it is hard to take without getting in your throat.

As the name suggests, Tops Mild is indeed a mild scotch snuff, easy on the nose but still very enjoyable. It's pale and dry as expected but it is rather less smoky than most American scotch snuffs. This allows the tobacco flavours to come through nice and cleanly. In many ways this one is nearer to an Irish Toast than many American scotches.
