In a blind testing, I would have sworn this has to be a Fribourg & Treyer snuff. It shares practically all the great qualities. Just like the F&T and their own, this is made by Wilsons (for Frederick Tranter). Compared to the Wilsons "Burgundy", this one here is coarser in grind and far moister. It´s stronger in the floral than the tobacco flavour. Besides several florals, rose most obvious, there´s some citrus as well, propably even sandalwood (too soft to be sure). Very pleasent and as long lasting as the F&T snuffs.

I agree that this has a Fribourg like quality to it but as they are both made by Wilsons thats probably no surprise. A very nice, rich snuff that will suit the snuffer who likes the more traditional type of flavouring.

Tranter's describes the flavouring in Burgundy as "special recipe" and it does appear to be a moderately complex recipe at that. In fact if it didn't have "Tranter's" printed on the tin lid I would think I had a previously undiscovered Fribourg & Treyer snuff in my nose. Overall it is floral rather than perfumed but not excessively so and the flavour lingers nicely in the nose. In colour it is a rich mid-brown and it's moist enough that big pinches are easy and given the flavour, big pinches are the order of the day. Very nice indeed!
