This is a new sort of base for de Kralingse. Their previous snuffs were either the Latakia or Virginia. This however, is a fermented Virginia, taking the tobacco to a new level. The snuff, while plain is remarkably complex. Its has a wonderful, slight sweetness and nice earthy tones. I snuffed through half my sample rather quickly, and then dropped a tonka bean in the tin of the remaining half. I must say, that this snuff really took the tonka scent well. It added yet another dimension to he taste, and the second half of this went faster than the first. The new snuff Bon Bon uses this base and has some tonquin (tonka) in it, so presumably the crafters of this original recipe knew the same thing. I tip my hat to the re-creator Jaap Bes, and the original creator Jakob Bolongaro.

Very course and subtle in flavour and sweet is what i smell if that makes sense. I really like it. my only complaint is the drip but i am certain that is my fault and if it isnt i really dont care, it is wonderful. Think its a virgina which would explain the sweetness and the nicotine. Try it. purchased from Nicotinerush.com tom's store is wonderful and really fresh. Hear that there are problems with the plastic containers as far as keeping in the mositure so I would get it from Tom. Once again very recomendable from De Kralingse

This is a totally plain snuff, something that is something of a rarity these days. Just tobacco, no flavourings at all and it's really rather good. It's fairly dry and fairly coarse (though there does seem to be some variety in the grind) and has a good deal of subtlety in the nose. If you like plain snuffs then you won't want to miss this one but if you prefer flavoured or mentholated snuffs you'd probably best give this one a miss.

Hollandse Bolongaro is very subtle in flavor. This is not my usual type of snuff, but I still enjoy it very much. It has a very earthy, leathery scent which reminds me somewhat of gardening. It even surpassed McChrystal's Violet as my most relaxing snuff.

Coarse and dry. Light brown with lighter specks in color. Very light by volume. Soft and easy to take large doses with full breathing. Very delicately complex slight grassy light choco scent and little burn. Not sneezy at all. Immediate heavy nose run with no coloring of mucus. Does not blow out well at the same time it is not cloying and sits well with a good spicy feel and mild aroma. No bitter drip. All around mild snuff except for volume and long lasting nicotine. Recommended for experienced snuffers looking for a plain yet complex tobacco snuff.

Now this is one boooooring snuff. Hard to believe how boring the flavour is. Lightly salty, very mild hay. It´s gone after your second breath. Virginia leafes alone are just way too mild without any casing/flavouring imo. Should have guessed this before the buy. My fault. Very disappointing snuff from an otherwise great manufacturer.
