The only difference I can detect between this and Tom Buck is its slightly finer ground. I'm looking at them both now, and its plain to see. I had a tin of each prior to these two that were identical in grind. So I'm willing to chalk that up to minor variations in milling and growing processes. Tobacco crops are subject to the rhythms of nature as much as anything. Its a good strong dose of bergamot, more so than Best SP and has a courser grind. Its also a bit darker than Best SP. A good all day snuff. One or the other of these two should always be on hand.

Weird! I knew I liked Tom Buck and I knew that Tom Buck and this stuff were just the same thing in different tins so when I couldn't find TB in the big snuff drawer of my local 'baccanist I took a tin of this instead. Same thing, innit? Well, no. I honestly wouldn't have said that the stuff in this tin was Tom Buck - so there's perhaps more variability in the products at Sharrows than I'd have guessed? This is a nice, finely ground SP, far as I can tell, with a decent - though by no means 'strong' N-kick. The tin of Buck I had *seemed* to me to have a coarser grind by some measure, was slightly dryer than this. Oh well.

Great snuff. As its re-labelled Tom Buck I can only praise it because TB is a classic snuff. I can only say that the re-labelling of TB is at best eccentric and at worst dishonest. Why do it? Wilsons don't really make this clear anywhere and you could easily order both TB and Queens, to then find you have two identical snuffs. Bizarre...

Mid brown, fine to medium grind, quite dry to medium moisture. I didn't really get on with Best SP as it was too dry and caught my throat, but I find this "extra strong" SP easier to take, maybe because it is finer, fluffier and moister than the Best SP. The bergamot flavour is more pungent and there is a hint of lavender and the merest whiff of ammonia. Nicotine levels are average, and no more apparent than in the Best SP. So my verdict is the Queens Extra Strong SP is more pleasing to the nostrils than the Best SP.

If you find this is similar to Tom Buck, but can detect a subtle difference then you are mistaken. The only difference is in the name. Both names (Queens & Tom Buck) are as old as the hills and both have always been associated with S.P. Wilsons could not decide which venerable name to remove from their list and therefore decided to keep them both. The choice is simply a question of name and nothing more. Queens might be considered to be a more pungent version of Best S.P. The latter (along with S.P 100) uses bergamot (Citrus Bergamia)from Reggio-Colabria in Italy - a cross between the pear lemon and the Seville orange - which gives a fresh citrus note. There is a hint of lavender. Here the nose (especially the lavender) is enhanced and the taste is rather more bitter with a sharper burn . It is a good strong snuff.

Well, I've sampled this and the Tom Buck side by side and I'm afraid I can't tell the difference! It's a classic SP with a long-lasting, rich citrus/bergamot flavour, moist enough to be easy to take and satisfying in the nicotine department. What more could one want?

I can't really pinpoint the flavor. All I can say is that I was a newbie in need of a high nic snuff, but not the super fine dusty types. Queens was the answer to me...it has a distinct flavor which is wonderful. This is one I can enjoy daily, being a newbie.

As others have mentioned in various posts, it is difficult to discern the difference between this and Wilsons Tom Buck, so I must like it! A good all-dayer as many of the plainer snuffs are as they are not over sweet or mentholated.
