I really like to think of this one as an aged SP like a mature crumbled, but I think that the soft character of this snuff is due to several items, the tobacco blend used in the base, I seem to get a bit of sweet Virginia, moist and a finer grind. The bergamot level of this one is restrained, and it is the only addition that I can detect. It has a silky smooth restrained hit, that fades to a very golden tobacco finish. I find this ones strength is in its subtlety, Less is more indeed. Its like they pulled the sharpness out, and I find it delightful, if not refreshing. This really is an all day snuff, one that I can use frequently without protest from the nose. Less is more!

This reminds me of S.P, which dropped off the list with S.P (Circle) about 35-40 years ago. It is distinctive by being the least piquant of the Sharrow S.P varieties. Try it back-to-back with any one of the other S.Ps to appreciate this. In the words of Robert Browning less is sometimes more, and this is the case with S.P.2. Traditional cloth cap, clogs, belt n’ braces snuff from Sheffield - the home of real S.P. Recommended.

Slightly finer than Best SP, about the same grind as SP 100. Lighter in color than either. Bergamot scented, but no hint of lavender or rose. The tobacco itself is more pronounced in this than in other SPs. Ermtony's suspicion that a different base is used sounds likely. The flavor fades a little too fast for my liking. A good solid SP. All Wilson's SPs are very good.

There´s actually a little sharp citrus sting at the first moment, so I´m not too sure it´s all bergamot alone in here. The flavour is surprisingly soft, so the tobacco shines more than in most other SP´s, sometimes the tobacco flavour´s even dominating. It´s quite fascinating. The duration´s also not bad. But it is a bit hard to take, maybe even more so for people new to snuff. Not the best SP out there for sure, but very welcome every once in a while. My snuff inside my tin was also so fresh, that I had to let the ammonia air out a bit, which I never had to do with a Wilson´s ever before. To be rebought occasionally.

Pale brown, finely ground and medium moist, this SP doesn't really stand out from the crowd and shares some similarities with McChrystals SP and Wilsons SS. The tobacco and bergamot flavours are refreshingly light, whilst the fineness of the grind makes it quite punchy and may be off-putting for beginners. Wilsons really do make good SPs, and whilst this is not my absolute favourite, you always find the tin empties quicker than expected! Good no nonsense snuff. 8/10.

Now this is a lovely traditional SP style snuff, as one would expect from the name. It is moderately fine in grind but moist enough to avoid being overly sneezy. The colour is somewhat paler than Wilson's other SP snuffs so I suspect a different tobacco base. The flavour is quite distinctive, being rather plainer than most SPs, but what flavour it has is decidedly of bergamot rather than a more generic citrus. In many ways it is like a toned down version of Wilson's S.S., though that snuff is somewhat darker in colour. The small tin I bought was delightfully fresh, needing an hour or so of airing to reduce the natural ammonia which is normal in a very fresh snuff. That small tin is emptying rather quickly! This is one I'll be getting again.
