I don't know what took Toque so long to release a natural toast. They already had several flavored toasts on the market for over a year before this one came along. Seems like a no-brainer to me. Simply put, if you enjoy an of Touque's flavored toasts, you will enjoy one without added flavors. Its doesn't have the full nutty-butter-burning wood scent as does Wilsons 22, and none of the carmelly sweetness of the F&T. It does have a good hint of smoke, though. Nonetheless this is still full and rich and every bit as good as the established brands. Well worth checking out for toast lovers.

A little softer, moister, and easier to take than the Wilson's, F&T and Samuel Gawith HDT's I've tried, I thought this would be a bland, unoffensive but unmemorable snuff. As it turns out, I would place it on my very short list of favorite HDT's, with WoS #22, Gawith Irish D Light, and at least tied with F&T HDT. Very clean non-carmelized "toasty" (as opposed to "smokey") flavor, with a clean, woody character and a fantastic, natural tobacco burn. Moderately high (but not too high) nicotine, and unalduterated, toasted tobacco joy. This doesn't have the smoked meat character and complexity I detect in the Samual Gawith Irish D or WoS #22, but has more body than the effervescent F&T HDT in my opinion. It deserves to be much better known, and I highly recommend it to both newcomers who might be a little intimidated by Toasts, and seasoned snuffers who want a clean, unpretentious but very characterful Toast that's good enough to be an all day, every day snuff.

Noticeable good nic hit with every pinch. Though the flavour suggests going for one after another pinch, a little pause must be taken not to overdo it. The slightly softer flavour, when compared with the Wilson´s, Gawiths or F&T´s offerings is very welcome. The smokieness is moderate and exquisite! For lovers of Toasts and Scotches, there´s just no way around this snuff. Remarkably easy to take for such a fine grind. One to buy in bulk, no doubt.

I have been waiting for a plain toast from Toque for a long while and I'm happy to say that it has been worth it. This is a smooth and delicately flavoured toast, far less ferocious than other variants and as a consequence much more useable as an all day snuff. Many toasts, whilst wonderful such as FandT HDT or the great US Scotchs, are too penetrating to be used more than occasionaly. This has a buttery - and for a toast almost delicate - body that make it more akin to an SP in terms of the effect in the nose. I've never been a fan of that burn that you get with some snuffs and this is so nicely balanced and smooth that the only sensation is one of great flavour backed up with a decent nicotine hit; not too little but just the right amount to make it satisfying for the seasoned user. Toasts are never a good bet for a new snuffer but this would not require too much experience before it could be fully appreciated.

Buff brown, very fine, dry and with a good nicotine level. In style it is similar to the Fribourg & Treyer and Wilsons offerings, although less flavoursome and easier going as a daytime snuff. There is less butter, caramel and toast, and a more neutral wood aroma with a hint of smokiness. Not for beginners, but not too difficult to master. I am assuming this is the base tobacco for Whisky & Honey, and both are excellent. 9/10.

Now I am seriously impressed with Toque's new Natural Toast. It is truly excellent in every respect. It is very pale brown, almost khaki in colour, very finely ground and quite dry, so not for the inexperienced (unless the inexperienced are looking to gain experience in a hurry!). In flavour is is half way between a plain Irish High Dry Toast (like Samuel Gawith's Irish D Original) and a plain American scotch snuff (like Standard from US Smokeless or Tops Mild from Swisher), having, as it does, a faint suggestion of smokiness, though it is smoother than any scotch. The comparison with American scotch snuffs does not mean to say that Natural Toast is in any way harsh. On the contrary there is a buttery smoothness to it, which contributes towards it being such a delight for the nose. My 25g tin is disappearing at an astonishing rate so I can see I will be buying bulk bags of this superb snuff in the future.
