This is the only S.M. snuff I have had thus far. The menthol in this hits pretty sharply at first and can give some pain, but it seems to subside within a reasonable time. Either that, or I am becoming de-sensitized to it due to sampling so many menthol snuffs recently! I detect no camphor, but there is a good taste of eucalyptus, which also fades rather quickly. The remaing tobacco flavor is rather good. Unfortunatley this clogs me up after it clears me, which will eliminate it from my search for a mainstay English medicated snuff.

This snuff is quite ok, but far from being more than that. It´s a strong blast of menthol, but not really overwhelming or uncomfortable. The menthol is overshadowing whats probably there flavourwise to a good degree, but I still get a hint of eucalyptus. There are lots of worse menthol snuffs on the market, but then again enough better ones. Still, this snuff is not too hard to take and as I´m quite sensitive when it comes to menthol snuffs, I´d call this one rather user friendly.

While I do find the menthol level in SM Brown to be rather over the top, surprisingly the initial flavour I get is of quite a decent base tobacco, though the menthol does tend to hit you pretty quickly thereafter. The grind is medium-fine with a moderate moisture level. The expected camphor and eucalyptus seem quite subdued in this one, so I still prefer SM Blue of the Sharrow Medicated (SM) snuffs. Having said that, it is by no means a bad snuff and I am quite sure it will have its fans.

Deep orange brown, medium grind and medium moisture, this SM variety is pretty lacklustre. The menthol is immediately obvious and is very piercing, and this dies down to leave a cooling effect on the nostrils but it tends to clog rather than clear. No other scents are obvious apart from a leathery tobacco flavour. Nicotine levels medium (slightly higher than the SM 500). There are much better mentholated snuffs out there. 4/10.

S.M. Brown is a mentholated snuff that subtly reveals the tobacco flavor without completely masking the snuff foundation. It is satisfying. I am a fan of S.M. Blue, where I find a more cooling menthol and aromatic notes. Nonetheless, I was not disappointed with this one. Brown delivers a medium/moderate nose bite that could be a little strong at times. It is easy to take. I recommend it to those who like medicated snuff while enjoying the tobacco flavor in it.

This snuff is a medium-fine grind with medium-dry moisture content. It is pretty heavy in the menthol category. But the overall scent of the snuff is nothing real special, not a bad snuff but nothing great either unless you like menthol. But the menthol does seem to calm down fairly quick with this and your left with just a mediocre scent.. Of the SM varieties, I prefer the SM 500 that does have chinese menthol which does seem a little more complex and has the addition of dark fired tobacco so your left with a decent scent when the menthol fades.
