Reviews for Wilsons of Sharrow SM Blue

And another nice surprise from Wilson´s, the SM Blue is quite far from being an ordinary medicated snuff. The menthol dosage is quite high and slightly stinging, but the camphor that takes the lead role after the -quite delicious- menthol settles is a tremendously good one. Very cooling and satisfying, solid tobacco base, long presence. For sure one of my favourite medicated snuffs.

This was quite a suprise after the more mainstream SM 500. Very complex for a medicated snuff, with the menthol hitting first, then quickly taking a back seat to the camphor, which has a much more "cooling" affect than the normal menthol "burn." Not as intense as the Hedges or Toque, but not a lightweight by any stretch of the imagination; this snuff has incredible character and just the right amount of strength without being overwhelming. The super clean tobacco base, for once in a medicated snuff, is not overwhelmed by menthol, and gives it a much more "three dimensional" quality than most mentholated snuffs. An extremely clean, fresh snuff that has more decongestant, head and sinus clearing properties than any of the twenty or so medicated snuffs I've tried. This is going into my daily rotation without a doubt. I definitely enjoy this more than the more straight-up menthol SM 500. Very highly recommended to medicated snuff lovers who are jaded on their current menthols of choice.

I thought sure I posted a review on this but I don't see it now. I wonder if the forum lost some posts. Bob recommended this to me after hearing how much I like S. M. 500 and so I bought a few tins. At first I didn't really get it but after going through 3 large tins for me this one is on the top of my list as an all-day snuff. I just love this, and I don't enjoy S. M. 500 any more. Like most of the Wilsons, it comes very moist and needs a lot of drying before you get the true flavor. This one gets sharper and sharper but the camphor doesn't go away as it ages. Just superb, five stars.

Orange brown, fine to medium grind and of medium moistness, this is my favourite of the Wilsons SM range, although in common with the other SMs, the level of menthol is excessive. Beneath all the menthol, there is a nice eucalyptus flavour with a hint of aniseed. I could only really use it occasionally though. 5/10.

Amazingly cooling! Medicated maná. According to Wilsons' website, the flavoring adds camphor to menthol crystals and eucaliptus oil. This is a strong menthol snuff with a lingering aroma. I don't find any exotic flavors on this one but a little of an unknown fragrance in the background that distinguishes it from other menthols. Easy to take. Little burn. It may be a little runny. It became my first choice for menthol satisfaction. I decided to purchase this in bulk. My brother prefers it too. If menthol is your crave, this will give you what you need without being shy.

Another snuff revisited... SM Blue is strong on the menthol and the camphor. In spite of the camphor the menthol is still on the strong side though my opinion of this snuff has definitely improved. After the initial menthol blast, which fades fairly quickly, the camphor comes through well and lingers nicely. On a par Sam Gawith's Zip and Gawith Hoggarth's CM though significantly different to McChrystal's O&G.

I really like this snuff. For me it is a summer snuff as the coolness of it is very intense which is amazing on a hot summer day. Less of a scent and more of a sensation in my opinion, though I do like the scent. It will clear your nose out which makes it too drying to be used a lot though a pinch here and there is amazing. I've also found it too be the best palate cleanser between snuffs of varieing charector.

A Menthol, Camphor blend. I enjoy this snuff, but it doesn't compare to MCs O&G. Every time I take a pinch, my nose gets so cold! Sometime I have to blow my nose because it is just to much. I like the flavor of this snuff and I will continue to use it.

Strong camphor, not my favorite type of menthol. Medium grind, medium moist. Not sweet at all. Will use for medicinal purposes but MC's O&G is my go to choice.
